Some wise person once said that the first fossil evidence of civilization is finding a human skeleton with a healed fracture of the femur. Pre-civilization, this injury results in imminent death from starvation or disease.

I read somewhere about how California's environment has always had about 7 year drought/flood cycle which the native wildlife and fauna have either adapted to or come to depend upon. Then Man comes along building waterworks to store water during the flood phase so as to have water for himself during the drought phase. If anything the current practice of releasing this water during drought phase is contradicting nature doing more harm than good. The smelt may not be used to perpetual abundance of water.

I’ve long been livid about the exploitation of bait fish to compromise human flourishing. There is a cost to empowering anti-science anti-empirical regressives. The price is becoming obvious to more people. Perhaps as a consequence the ascent of Team Reality will accelerate.
