Former Democrat Congresswoman Barbara Jordan had a lot of great things to say about immigration. This, from an Op-ed in the NYTs, 1995, is one of them:
"Immigration imposes mutual obligations. Those who choose to come here must embrace the common core of American civic culture. We must assist them in learning our common language: American English. We must renew civic education in the teaching of American history for all Americans. We must vigorously enforce the laws against hate crimes and discrimination. We must remind ourselves, as we illustrate for newcomers, what makes us America."
Rust is a gr8 analogy. For a good part of my adult work life, I had international responsibilities. Perforce, the goings on in the United Nations assemblies were part of my info sweep. When considering the 195 member nations, precious few constitute Western civilization -- by far IMO that membership counts tyrants, dictators, and theocratic despots -- small wonder our USA is under siege ... the ideal of liberty is infectious and their subjects will put them out of a job. Our ideals are disruptive and a danger to the predominant majority of the UN membership. Our USA is worth saving, no matter the effort.

Great share.
Excellent commentary. FRA GER and the U.K. are probably past the point of no return, though.

Multi-culturalism really becomes a form kf multiple ethnicentricisms, all warring against each other.
