The surprise is not that this happened again. The surprise is that it's not more frequent. When we teach kids there is no God, that we are an accident of "nature", who could wonder that such murderous rage continues to manifest.

Great analysis. It's the "why" that must be asked and answered.

"... Judeo-Christian ideals are essential ..." These ideals represent transcendental redemption. The school shootings (and too much else in recent years) are nihilism manifested. Thanks, as always, Michael for a comprehensive analysis. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I was heartened to learn that the sale of ink-paper bibles rose this year by 21%. I pray that they are read.

Judeo Christian values are the key. They even work for atheists like my parents. We learned to be honest, moral, think of others first and be willing to sacrifice. The culture was so imbued with these values that they went without saying. I do think as Ben Shapiro said, individuals can be “good without God” but that it doesn’t work societally. I think of vaccines. If most are inoculated then those who are not will likely be safe. But if this behavior expanded many would be infected.

We grew up with guns. Everyone had guns, even Democrats like my college professor parents. We cost wait to be old enough to take Hunter Safety. No one would have used a gun to shoot fellow students.

I have heard the shooter was a trans. Whether this is true she clearly had mental health issues and was completely self absorbed. Meaningless lives and self referential behavior seems to be common now. It’s a wonder we don’t have more like this shooter and the UHC killer.

I believe in Faith, not Religion. God has a Plan. It is a good plan and it is up to us to figure it out.
