Given the circumstances, like you, I too look forward to his Congressional grilling.
But how can anyone be pardoned from something they have not been convicted of yet. I think Trump needs to look into the constitutionality of this garbage.

Ford preemptively pardoned Nixon - and the Constitutional power is wide open.
