Police are not beyond scrutiny. Bad cops exist. Mistakes happen. Deadly force must be investigated. But the anti-police narrative is statistically dishonest and morally dangerous. Tens of millions of police contacts occur each year, and the overwhelming majority end without serious injury. Most fatal encounters involve weapons, violent calls, resistance, or perceived deadly threats. The left wants every case judged backward from the death, not forward from the danger officers faced in real time. That is not justice. It is political theater. No one should lose life unnecessarily. But no one gets immunity from consequences by choosing violence during arrest.

Then again, you should not engage in criminal activities that greatly increase your chances of HAVING an encounter with law enforcement. When being arrested, you should not resist. You should not fight. You definitely should not pull a weapon and try to kill those officers.
There are a lot of "should nots" left unspoken by the Madison Mayor.
That's a problem in Wisconsin, though. Police there just shoot people to death if they lose their temper. There is no inquiry or investigation. Look up the names of Paul Heenan and Michael Bell on the internet, both young men shot to death by Wisconsin police. Both white, unarmed, drunk and resisting an arrest by a number of police. Both shot to death in cold blood.
It's an endemic problem in Wisconsin and that's where the case you wrote about occurred.
