I tire, as I assume do most adults, of the relativism here: “Republicans, like any group, must face scrutiny for their actions and policies.”

While theoretically true it is nothing more than an example of a societal untruth repeated often enough that people begin to think it’s the truth; ironically you prove your own point without realizing it. Sad.

All political assassination in America, the Summer of Love in 2020, the Summer of Love in 1968, the weathermen, SLA, etc…. ALL are from the left. Lincoln. JFK. RFK. MLK. ALL from the left.

There have been zero political assassinations from the right.

As to “and policies…” what policies? Jim Crow? Democrat. Dixecrats? Democrats. Standing in the school house door? Democrats. Japanese internment? Democrats. 1964 CRA? A larger majority of Rs than of Ds voted for it. So I’m interested in exactly which policies you reference in your aside. I find none in my fairly complete understanding of American history.

Don’t forget the Klan - that was a Democratic Party vehicle as well, kind of a nineteenth century Antifa.

Yeah I thought about that but it wasn’t a policy. Just a buncha Democrats who couldn’t handle Appomattox and not getting their way. Toddlers. Violent toddlers. That’s all they are.

Except for Klan Exalted Cyclops, Democratic Senator Robert Byrd. I remember Hillary Clinton eulogizing him as her mentor. He sat in the Senate until he died in 2010, so the Dems/Klan connection is much more recent than way back in the 1800s. From Wiki:

In 1946, Byrd wrote a letter to Samuel Green, the Ku Klux Klan's Grand Wizard, stating, "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation".

Elsewhere, Polifact goes to great pains to underline that Byrd was never the KKK's Grand Wizard, just that he started a chapter in West Virginia, which launched his political career, but later (much later) he said he regretted it. Yeah, right.

Lord, bless their little hearts as they know not what they do. As in at all.

Actually, Dowdy accurately defined what psychologists call 'stochastic terrorism'.. the problem is he attributed the instigation to the wrong group.

I don't remember any political violence that was done by Republicans. It's always the Democrats. Now I know there are those who will equivocate and say "No, it's the ultra-left, not regular Democrats!" To that I call BS! The Democrat party doesn't kick the ultra-left out (AOC and the tribe, etc.) so they condone their actions. The Democrats are culpable for every act of violence done in their name that they don't actively work to remove.

When we stop lying to ourselves we'll be able to see the forest for the trees.

The Democrats and Republicans are all corrupt. They do not work for the best interests of the people, they work for their donors and the lobbyists. We know that.

The difference is the Democrats have always worked to cause friction to use that friction to gain power. Their refusal to admit that our own citizens are equal in the eyes of the law, support for Jim Crow, the terrorist gangs of the 60s, ALL Democrats.

So stop talking about "we all". Those of us in the right (Many of us are not big "R" republicans) are not the terrorists, not the demonstrators who burn cities, not the liars who prosecute a man because they're afraid he'll ruin their money laundering schemes if elected President (too bad, losers). There are plenty of bad Republicans, but we're not killers and we don't subscribe to violence as a political tool.

Or at least we haven't yet. I can see some on the right (many, I hope) deciding that political violence is not a viable option, and their reaction may well be to carry and be ready to use weapons in their own defense and the defense of others. It's a shame that it must happen, however when the opposition is clear in their aims and will not discuss a solution civilly, the only real solution is to prepare to pay them in the coin they recognize.

I am not advocating violence. I am advocating being prepared to interrupt the cycle of violence so that each of us will not be impacted.

I will protect what is mine. If you do not want trouble, just leave me alone.

Same playbook as other assassinations. The young man was the patsy. "PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THIS MAN STANDING NEXT TO CHARLIE ASSUMING IT IS CHARLIES SECURITY THAT APPEARS TO HAVE A GUN WITH SILENCER POINTING AT CHARLIE RIGHT NEXT TO THE TENT CHARLIE WAS SITTING ON.....THEN AFTER THE RIFLE SHOT WAS HEARD HE APPEARED TO BRING WHATEVER HE HAD HIS HAND HE BROUGHT IT DOWN AND THEN LEFT THE SCENE ! i THINK HE MAY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IF NOT THE ACTURAL SHOOTER VIDEO DOESN'T LIE....i THINK THIS VIDEO SHOULD BE SHOWN TO THE PUBLIC SO THAT YOUNG LADY STANDING BEHIND THE ROPE OBVIOUSLY SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT MAN DRESSED IN DARK BROWN SHIRT AND PANTS LIKE A SECURITY GUARD WOULD WEAR........SHE MUST HAVE SEEN HIM BRING HIS RT ARM DOWN WITH THE HANDGUN IN IT AND LEFT ..BUT DUE TO THE RIFLE SHOT AND THE ACCUTUAL SHOOTING CHAOS HER CONSCIOUS THOUGHTS MAY HAVE BEEN SUPPRESSED OR NEARLY ERASED BY THE AFTER EVENTS TO ACCUSE THE KID ON THE ROOF....NOT TO DENY HE MAY HAVE ALSO SHOT BUT THAT GUARD DID TOO AT THE SAME TIME IN MY MIND HE DID SEE WHAT YOU THINK???????

FYI , WE FIND OUT YEARS LATER MANY ASSASSINATIONS WERE DONE BY SECRET SERVICE TO MAKE SURE THE KILL SHOT DID THE JOB....

Look at the guy to the right of Charlie. Notice his hands and what he has in his hands.
