You cite a troubling conspiracy as an illustration for your premise.

I agree with your conclusion—insightful as usual.

I’m deeply troubled by the illustration. First, with no basis in reality, Owens is wreaking havoc amongst a certain constituency with which I am generally aligned. Is the example of Owens a function of distrust or are her excursions into fantasy simply a disconnect with reality analogous to that which mainstream leftists routinely embrace? Or is she so desperate for attention that she’s doing it for clicks? Is Owens being taken seriously by so many because the phenomenon is so relatively rare on the right? And because she for years was in fact credible?

Whatever the reasons for her lunacy/attention-seeking—& Tucker’s as well—it’s heartbreaking for me to watch these folks embrace fantasy & while doing so damage Conservatism.

I would amend your closing, “…citizens must relearn the distinction between skepticism and despair” like this: “…citizens must relearn the distinction between skepticism and despair, _narcissism, & lunacy_”.

I share your angst over this. It is truly destructive what Owens has done to TPUSA - and to what end? What could she gain from it?

If she honestly believed what she alleges, it sure seems the right way to do it would be to investigate and compile legitimate evidence rather than spouting off every weird thought as if she had some form of Tourette's Syndrome.

Part of it is the feeling I have of being betrayed by people I trusted and supported - Tucker and Candace both fall into those categories. I never saw evidence of such a rapid heel-turn coming from either. Megyn Kelly is right on the edge for me as well due to her "well I don't watch Candace, so I don't know" and her support for Tucker - Piers Morgan, of all people, did the interview with Fuentes that Tucker should have done. Piers got him to admit that he is just a Nazi, misogynist, racist slime bucket - so much so, I'm beginning his schtick is all an act just to attract attention.

We are aligned over our concerns with Megyn.

For me, Megyn’s handwaving over Candace is bad enough. I can forgive that, at least for now. Yet her serial failures to call out Tucker’s straw men has me very deeply concerned.

These people that dominate social media is not reality. These people are allowed to run amuck for a reason. Ask yourself why is Candace supposedly number one podcaster in the world?

Candace said yes to man she had only met once at a TPUSA function. George Farmer. A wealthy British guy involved in the Catholic Church. Which makes me wonder…

Has Candace been captured and is George secretly gay? Or is this a honeypot operation like Erica Kirk?

Kirk is a Scottish term that means "church." It is often used informally to refer specifically to the Church of Scotland, which is the national church of Scotland.

George Webb here on Substack has been digging into this for weeks now, and makes a very clear distinction between what is verifiable and what is not.

The saving grace of cynics is that they are so often right.

Sadly, the truth is being flushed into the tunnels below that infamous pizza parlor. Cynicism reminds me of an old joke, tagged: "Your only child, I presume ?"

A corollary ... parents have the obligation to act in all ways every day to earn the trust of their children.

This public feud is starting to resemble the MTV comedy program “Celebrity Death Match” which was a satirical send up on diva celebrities.
