The American Left is Relentless
The old saying that the ends justify the means is stretched to its limits where even the means justify the means.
The fact there was a surprise debut of a “documentary” at the Sundance Film Festival about Brett Kavanaugh, reminds me there is literally nothing beyond the scope of the American left.
Most of the documentary is an indictment of the FBI for not investigation all the leads that were given them in the week after Christine Blasey Ford’s letter was delivered, via Kamala Harris, to Feinstein. They say Kavanaugh was never investigated even though he underwent two separate FBI background investigations before Blasey Ford’s accusations and Sheldon Whitehouse’s deep dive into Kavanaugh’s high school yearbook.
What it doesn’t address are the reports touted in the media that were treated as prima facie evidence of Kavanaugh’s moral failures that turned out to be complete fabrication and that the star witness, Blasey Ford, came off as a mental weakling that was manipulated into her testimony. It didn’t help that she had issues with details on time and place and who saw what even though it was “seared into her hippocampus" and affected her life to this day.
The “documentary” is more of a “mockumentary” of sorts, including no credible new evidence and adding hearsay and new “evidence” from anonymous sources about Kavanaugh’s alleged actions when he was in college. According to reports (I have not seen it, but the left media is all over it) the big reveal is they have a witness to the college debauchery that completely disqualifies Kavanaugh from the court. The witness allegedly reported his “evidence” to Diane Feinstein’s Judiciary Committee and the FBI in 2018 and it was not investigated. Unfortunately, his blockbuster “evidence” seems to be some things he heard from some other people about an incident, and he was an eyewitness to another incident that nobody, including the alleged victim, can seem to remember.
The release of this film is somewhat unsurprisingly coincidental with the recurrence of “protests” in front of the home of Justice Kavanaugh. I guess the DOJ is just as busy now as they were back in July when there were protests at Justices’ home and Kavanaugh was the focus of an assassination plan by some rando dude who drove cross country to kill him.
Just for the record, protesting, threatening, or attempting to intimidate Supreme Court Justices with the goal of influencing their decisions on any case is patently illegal. Merrick Garland’s DOJ did nothing last year and has continued to do nothing this year to prevent any protester from illegally protesting in front of the homes of the conservative justices, even though doing so is a felony.
Why do they get away with burning down cities, illegally protesting and just about anything they want to do?
Three reasons.
First, they believe their crusades are always noble and therefore, no matter the actual outcome of their efforts, it is noble as well. If there is no outcome or an even a bad one, the effort was noble, so whatever happens is not their fault because the effort was righteous.
The second reason is that, as a group, they are so firmly convinced of their total moral superiority to everyone else, even other members of their cause who aren’t sufficiently dedicated to the cause, anything they do is allowed because their goals are assumed to be noble.
In a salient example of circular reasoning, because they participate in a noble cause, that participation makes them noble. The cause validates their moral superiority, and their moral superiority validates the cause.
The old saying that the ends justify the means is stretched to its limits where even the means justify the means.
Take the microcosm of the Supreme Court and remember what they did to Robert Bork, Clarence Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
It is canon that what the left does to conservative nominees is never allowed to be done to progressive nominees. To even ask one how she defines a woman is racist and transphobic and simply not allowed even though the definition of “woman” is a matter of law.
Lastly, they do it because it works.
The implied threat in all of this is that because they get away with it before and during confirmation, it will never stop and even though SCOTUS appointments are for life, the pressure on the Justices and their families will never end. This has even more impact today since Garland’s DOJ has demonstrated they have no interest in following the laws specifically passed to protect the impartiality of the Justices.
I’m convinced that is why alleged conservative judges nominated by Republican presidents have often turned to the left during their terms.
The one thing I respect (and fear) about the left in America is that they are relentless. Like the Terminator from the movies, they won't stop because they can’t stop. It is just who they are.
The Kavanaugh crusade is just the latest example of the relentless nature of the left.
The Washington Post reported that within hours of the filmmakers announcing the documentary, they have started receiving “tips” they are collecting as the basis for another documentary.
And you can bet that death won’t be an escape because the New York Times, who called Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi an “austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State”, will print that Justice Kavanaugh was “an extreme right-wing judge who was appointed to the Supreme court by an illegitimate president even after being credibly accused of heading a rape gang”.
Michael - this reminds me of what Schumer said about taking on the intelligence community, they will beat you 6 ways to Sunday.
To be like that you need to remember one thing...they care about nothing but the mission. Everything else is just a casualty of war.
You stated the ends justify the means, and the means justify the means...to them they do not care for anything but the END. And we all know what they want to end...
Do we need any more proof than Justice Thomas? Somehow he survived. I hope Kavanaugh does, too. All so they can legally kill babies. I fear for future generations. And after the woke "oath" to view their movies -- I am so done with Sundance.
