Nothing New Under the Sun
Biden and his regime are taking us closer to a collectivist tyranny than we have been in a century - but we have been here before.
My wife and I were remarking that the entertainment industry has run out of ideas. The number of movie remakes, the TV series that are essentially the same plots but with different characters and even the attempts to be “woke” follow the same scripts as we have seen time and time again. Shakespeare borrowed from the Greek tragedies and comedies, and that “borrowing” continues today.
I was reminded of Ecclesiastes Chapter 1, verse 9 which says:
That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
Truthfully, and especially when it comes to tyranny, there isn't much new that humans haven't witnessed since the time they decided that living in organized groups was necessary for survival and advancement.
But we just can’t seem to learn that collectivism is just another path to tyranny.
There is nothing new about the "new left". What Biden and the Democrats are trying to do has been done before.
Trying to "implement it correctly" or saying "that wasn't real socialism, Marxism or communism" has never, and will never, change the outcome, because for collectivism to exist, tyranny is necessary.
As Lenin is said to have expressed, it is all about who/whom - as in who plans whom, who directs whom, who dominates whom, who assigns to other people their station in life, and who is to have his due allotted by others? Hayek noted that these questions become necessarily the central issues that can only be decided by a supreme power.
And holy hell, our great grandparents have seen them try. Our grandparents and parents as well, and here we are again. America is as close to becoming a collectivist nation than it has since the early 1900's.
F.A. Hayek was an astute observer of the collectivist wave washing over Europe before and after WWII and how Great Britain embraced socialism during the same period. His book, "The Road to Serfdom" was published almost 80 years ago and was largely ignored until it was rediscovered around 40 years later in conjunction with Ronald Reagan's campaign for the presidency and his Austrian School economic recovery plans.
When you read the following passages from "Road", you will see the last two years of the Biden Administration in it - because what Hayek wrote is how all collectivist movements operate, and Biden and his regime are nothing less than hard core collectivists cloaked as "moderates".
"A further point should be made here: Collectivism means the end of truth. To make a totalitarian system function efficiently, it is not enough that everybody should be forced to work for the ends selected by those in control; it is essential that the people should come to regard these ends as their own. This is brought about by propaganda and by complete control of all sources of information.
The most effective way of making people accept the validity of the values they are to serve is to persuade them that they are really the same as those they have always held, but which were not properly understood or recognized before. And the most efficient technique to this end is to use the old words but change their meaning. Few traits of totalitarian regimes are at the same time so confusing to the superficial observer and yet so characteristic of the whole intellectual climate as this complete perversion of language.
The worst sufferer in this respect is the word “liberty.” It is a word used as freely in totalitarian states as elsewhere. Indeed, it could almost be said that wherever liberty as we know it has been destroyed, this has been done in the name of some new freedom promised to the people. Even among us we have planners who promise us a “collective freedom,” which is as misleading as anything said by totalitarian politicians. “Collective freedom” is not the freedom of the members of society but the unlimited freedom of the planner to do with society that which he pleases. This is the confusion of freedom with power carried to the extreme. It is not difficult to deprive the seat majority of independent thought. But the minority who will retain an inclination to criticize must also be silenced. Public criticism or even expressions of doubt must be suppressed because they tend to weaken support of the regime. As Sidney and Beatrice Webb report of the position in every Russian enterprise: '𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟.'”
And that, my friends is all you need to know about what and why Biden must be stopped.
There is always someone vying to be the “who” who decides for the “whom”. It’s time we learn a little pattern recognition so we can stop the nonsense before the screaming starts.
As we suffer Obama’s anti-constitutional covert third term.
There was a game we played in high school, I forget the name of it, but it involved breaking the class into 3 groups - Circles, Triangles and Squares. Then with a roll of the die it is decided upon which group is in charge. The game continues and with the draw of cards the groups decide and vote upon the rules (laws) that will govern them. This continues on and on and what has ultimately happened within every class, every time the game is played, even when done in college settings - it is the same result.
Those in power - remain in power and get more powerful. They pass laws that benefit them and keep the rest down. Rarely will anyone who has been cast in the non-ruling group get to become members of the ruling group. And the ruling group ultimately become the dictators, the elite, the untouchables.
And that too is the reasoning why there has always been RINO's. They play both sides of the isle thinking/hoping and plotting that they too can become one of the ruling elites.
Such maybe the fate of the US unless we decide differently and do so in mass.
