It looks more and more, with the history of the Vietnam mistake coming into more credible light, that Westmoreland was the read driving force behind American policy and that Lyndon Johnson was too ignorant of foreign policy to realize he was being led by nose-ring. Johnson was abysmally ignorant of anything outside of his own back yard.
