Well I had an absolute sense of dread that 2020 would be repeated. In that case I saw the future of our nation ending in a “The Camp of the Saints” scenario in which America and its distinctive culture of individual freedom would have been submerged by an alien socialism as surely as Constantinople was conquered and Byzantine civilization completely erased by eastern invaders. My main reaction to Trump’s well earned victory was not so much jubilation as intense relief and gratitude. Our nation itself missed a near bullet just as surely as Trump did last July 13th.
I don't live in your country - I'm in the UK - but I definitely felt a palpable sense of relief when I woke to the news of his victory. America made the right choice. Kamala has would have ushered in a generational calamity on your nation. Hopefully Trump has learned from 2016-20 that the Deep State is real and malevolent, and takes proper action to tackle it this time.
Michael, I share UR sense of loss. Since late last year I have shared with colleagues and family my conviction that the tide was turning against the 'progressive' agenda. They knew it too -- the lawfare, the media frenzy, regulatory expansion and the nonsense about the UN being omnipotent are all examples of the fear and realization that Biden/Harris/BHO cabal was the last gasp to permanently alter the Republic. Mr. Trump's tenacity became a magnet for all of us who are repulsed by the 'progressive' and globalist agenda. I am surely thankful and my hopes for my heirs have soared in the past 36 hours. Thank you again for your skills in putting to words the emotions and thoughts I and so many others have.
As is usually the case I find myself agreeing with your astute observations, with one exception. I see the long slide into darkness in America as having its beginning further back than ten years. Barry Soetoro’s promise to “fundamentally transform America”, made during his coronation in 2008, was where the table stakes regarding the destruction of our unique and wonderful nation increased dramatically.
It is my belief that the loyal opposition in the form of the Republic Party failed to comprehend the evil that had occupied the Oval Office and what it portended for the future of America. President Trump interrupted the transition to a pathetic collectivist state ruled rather than governed by a privileged elite in 2016, incurring the wrath of the emerging uniparty and paying an horrific personal price for his insolence.
With his much more knowledgeable reelection President Trump promises to return the reins of power to the American people and to banish the out-of-touch elites from the control they have enjoyed under the Obamas, the Bidens and their plutocratic masters. It will not be easy but Mr. Trump specializes in accomplishing the impossible.
well said…agree completely…I remember very clearly, on the night Obama won his first term, telling my daughter that his election was very, very bad for our country…I was absolutely correct then, and again in 2012 & 2020

My son texted me yesterday "It's like you can smell hope in the air today." He's 28 and he gets it.
You clearly raised him right!!
A lost decade is right.
Can you think of anyone who would've persevered as Trump has despite all the massive assaults on him?
He is the perfect President for this time. Unbroken. Unbowed. Unstoppable.
