"If a black person is a Democrat and the reaction to that person is limited to their politics, it is really just racism."
And conversely, if a black person is a Republican and the reaction to that person is limited to their race, that's not racist because they're a "sellout".
Electing a white person when there was a viable black candidate is only racist if the white person is a republican and the black person is a democrat.
Some people are wrong because they don’t have all of the facts. Some people are wrong because they have a need to feel morally superior to others, so they diminish them.
Michael, You make excellent points. When I was in my first year of college, I took a course in economics 101 in which one of the reading assignments was Smith's Wealth of Nations. What I remember most about the professor was that he was former master plumber, not a lifelong academic who dealt only in theory and abstractions. As such, he had a real world perspective on capitalism, free market enterprise, and generation of wealth. Would that more college professors were like him. I don't know what kind of degree he had and it really did not matter. When my father retired from PanAmerican Airways as an engineer with a very fascinating career involving extensive postings overseas, training other engineers, and establishing training programs in foreign countries- Brazil, Iran, Zaire, Colombia, he briefly taught transportation courses at the local two-year college. He only had a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering. He loved this and I am sure he was an excellent teacher. Unfortunately, cutbacks in the curriculum due to funding led to his course being dropped. I very much enjoy and agree with your insights. Rick
Thank you. I try to stick to the facts, many of our arguments are way less complicated and far more contrived than we are led to believe. I'm a simple man, so I like my logic simple as well!

Examples abound.

And as the Gipper used to say, many people are not ignorant - they just know so much that just isn't so.
