Alas, nothing new here. We human beings were invented with free will but have always shown a preference to "look good in the eyes of your peers". We are pressured to become obedient prisoners. We want to fit in. Not rock the boat. Communal bonding leads eventually into group think.

Overpriced sneakers decorated with a swoosh are sold to adolescents whose first job in life is to look good in the eyes of their peers. Look like you fit in. Obey group-think logos and mantras. Don't think beyond the swoosh. These people grow up to be Democrats.

Socialists tend to associate personal liberty with feelings of discomfort, uncertainty, and helplessness, whereas communal equality signifies for them protection, financial security, and minimal individual risk.
