In the fourth grade of elementary school in Arlington, Virginia, some time ago, we were taught that assimilation is essential for immigrants to become Americans and a precursor to citizenship. I hope the new government in that state returns to that teaching.
Good post and thanks. I believe all great religions have beliefs that connect with the teachings of Jesus. But yes America is built on European versions of Judeo-Christian values. If we truly lived up to what we in fact preach we would be a very powerful force for good.
