Even though I am not currently President Trump’s number one supporter for the GOP nomination, that does not mean I am blind to his dedication to America, his persecution due to it, or the fact that he deserves to get a measure of payback from his enemies. He did good things for America, for which I am extremely grateful, and now the political left is trying to destroy him – completely.
I don’t believe Trump is guilty of any of this. The law that was changed in New York to allow lunatic E. Jean Carroll to bring a civil suit for “defamation” after thirty plus years might as well be called the “Get Trump Act”. Hell, E. Jean Carroll makes Christine Blasey Ford look credible and no conservative, Republican, or Trump supporter is going to get a fair trial in Manhattan or DC, or the entire Acela Corridor for that matter.
Personally, I think the verdict in the Carroll case will be overturned on appeal.
I see people saying that because Trump was indicted by a grand jury, he is guilty and going to prison. “I prefer my president as someone who hasn’t convicted of sexual abuse or has been twice impeached and twice indicted.”
The fact is this joy on the left about a grand jury indictment reveals a complete ignorance of what a grand jury proceeding does.
This process is one sided. It is the prosecution presenting its case. There is no adversarial process here, there is no defense, and often these proceedings are held in secret. The prosecutor often pulls the juries from politically advantageous populations, selecting jurors at random – but in the case of DC where 95% of the people voted for Biden and 100% of them hate Trump, there is a good chance the process is going to be biased.
This process was originally designed to engage the citizenry in the legal process, one main goal was to have reasonable people keep prosecutors in check, but the process has corrupted by prosecutors who want to make a weak case look stronger by having a jury hand down an indictment rather than just charging the target. These realities gave rise to the saying that a prosecutor can get a grand jury to “indicate a ham sandwich” - if prosecutor gets it in their head that somebody is guilty, they can achieve an indictment whether the person is guilty or not.
An indictment is just the beginning of the adversarial process.
Now the target of the prosecutor gets its turn at bat to present its defense.
The people cheering “special counsel” Jack Smith’s indictments of Trump forget that Smith also used a grand jury to indict former Virginia governor Bob McDonnell and his wife for corruption during the Obama administration. Rumor had it that McDonnell was considering a run for the Republican presidential nomination.
Smith got a conviction in front of a favorable jury in the Eastern District of Virginia and was subsequently overturned 9-0 upon appeal to the Supreme Court. During the arguments, Chief Justice John Roberts mentioned a brief filed by Republican and Democratic White House counsels going back several administrations, all of whom said the government (meaning Smith) had gone too far in the McDonnell case.
So, an indictment is hardly the “walls are closing in” moment the left wants it to be. Out of all the legal persecution and lawfare President Trump faces, the documents case has the most risk, but even then he is not being charged under the Presidential Records Act, Smith is doing the same thing Alvin Bragg did in Manhattan, stretching the Espionage Act to the limits to find ways to charge Trump – even in the face of Bush, Obama, Pence, and Biden (even during his Senate days when he should not have ever possessed classified information) having done exactly the same things. The left will claim what Trump did was uniquely wrong, but that simply isn’t supported by the facts.
There are other ignorant folks who are saying “if he didn’t do anything wrong, he will be found innocent”. A true statement, but one that exemplifies a complete lack of understanding that today, the process is the punishment. As we have seen in cases all the way back to Scooter Libby, lawfare isn’t about guilt or innocence, it is about dragging people thorough the courts, bleeding them dry financially, ruining their reputations, ending their careers (often making them virtually unemployable) and hurting their families until they give in or are destroyed.
I was involved in a case (as a plaintiff) where the legal fees for my side alone were almost $900,000 dollars. The defendant’s fees were likely close to that. It took two years, and we won and were awarded our legal fees, so the entire case over a $200K breach of contract cost the defendant around $2 million ($1.8 million plus the 200K). Why would anyone do that? Well, they thought we would give up if they could bleed us out of money but after it got far enough that we knew we had a good chance to win, we decided not to settle and play it out all the way.
Just imagine yourself in Trump’s position. How long do you think you would last?
This entire process toward Trump is persecution, not prosecution - and the left has no problem with that.
They are corrupt all the way down to the bone.
What will it take for the people to scream, ENOUGH ALREADY!? Why does the GOP do nothing? No concrete actions against the Dems? It is beyond the point to throw the tea overboard. I do not advocate violence. Something is need right now, at this very moment, for the people to accept nothing less than complete defunding of the DOJ, IRS, NIH, and all the other unelected agencies. A good start would be for the House to file the Articles of Impeachment against Biden today.
Evidence was shown yesterday that Biden received 10m directly from Ukraine. ENOUGH.
The FBI's Biden bribery document was demanded by Congress in early May. The FBI stonewalled turning the document over. Finally Chairman Comer had enough and took steps to hold FBI Director Wray in contempt - when Wray promised he would turn the document over on Monday 5 June. He FINALLY got around to turning the document over to Congress on Thursday, 8 June --- the exact same day (probably within the hour) that Jack Smith informed Trump's lawyers of the indictment. This is how the Democrats operate to ensure the ONLY news anybody hears is that Trump was indicted - and not that Biden is directly implicated in a Ukraine bribe to get a prosecutor fired.
