Hearing Nikki Haley speak reminds me of how wrong I was during the Clinton and Bush years.
I considered myself a Reagan Republican, but now I understand how I was fooled by my subscriptions to National Review, the Weekly Standard and the Wall Street Journal.
But I wasn't really a Reaganite. I was a Bill Kristol/Nikki Haley Democrat.
I didn't realize it at the time, but I was being groomed to be a NeverTrumper - not so much because they anticipated Trump, it was that they feared another Reagan.
Rush Limbaugh was the only true Reagan Republican in media. What the political establishment learned from Reagan and Rush is that for them to prevent another Reagan, they had to change the battlefield, so that's what they did - and how.
For example, Democrats have always accused the political right of trying to bring back Nazism because, you know, Nazism comes from the right of the political spectrum.
Given the political left's reaction to the October 7 attacks in Israel, I guess we know now who the real Nazis always were.
Isn't it interesting how the American left allies with every single enemy of this nation? They aren't even hiding it now - the kiddies have been fed this tripe for so long, they don't know the Democrats have never meant a damn thing they said, did or supported - it was all about power.
The kiddies thought they actually meant what they said.
And now the Democrat's ownership of academia is paying off. Decades of indoctrination and the silencing of opposing views have cursed the Democrats with a generation of Devil spawn.
And now they own it. Like King Canute commanding the tide, they are helpless to hold back the truth.
They broke it, now they bought it.
Seems objectively clear the Reagan era was different.
We faced a different Democrat Party, a party still bounded by principles. It was an age where both major parties still believed in the Constitution and wanted America to get to the same place, we just disagreed with the way we were going to get there. There was decorum, propriety and respect. Honest debate was still possible - not like the screaming of sound bites we see today.
What America wants is someone with the America First policies of Ronald Reagan, but is nice about it. Reagan was a throwback to a time when language could cut like a razor, but that was a time when people cared about integrity and honor. It was an age when people understood that just because they could do something, that didn't mean they should do it.
We are in far more brutish times. Language has been stripped of its power to shame, not because the words or context are different, it is because it is impossible to shame the shameless. There is absolutely not sense of propriety now, "if it feels good, do it" rules the day.
In a war for the survival of America, there are no rules. The political left has seen to that. There is literally nothing they will not say, do or believe to achieve their goal of destroying the very foundation of this nation. From their fealty to authoritarianism and collectivism to their alliance with the ideology of transgenderism, they seek to destroy freedom, independence and even the continuance of families.
What we need is another Patton.
General George S. Patton is reported to have said to his men that they must forget all the high-minded rules of war that were written in the parlors and salons of moralizing politicians. He said that the enemy doesn’t care about our rules and the enemy will fight according to his own rules (or absence of them) and the only way to win was to fight according to the enemy’s rules – or even dirtier.
In our own minds, we know this to be true. On the battlefield, holding true to any rule that renders you defenseless or restricts your ability to mount an offensive will get you killed.
I have been clear about my reservations about President Trump, but in the cold, sober analysis of the catharsis America must undergo to survive, he is the only one with the sheer will power to end the decline. The thing the Democrats and GOP establishment fear more than the fires of Hell is a Trump presidency unencumbered and unfettered by the need to run for another term.
They fear a President Trump set free by the Twenty-second Amendment because Trump understands what Patton meant.

Always insightful Michael.
Would I be right to assume the following statement was tongue in cheek? "For example, Democrats have always accused the political right of trying to bring back Nazism because, you know, Nazism comes from the right of the political spectrum." Because, if we really look at history (and the definition itself), Naziism (along with Fascism) is on the left of the political spectrum - it is socialism, as I discussed a while back: https://curetsky.substack.com/p/is-fascism-actually-on-the-right
Amen.
We need a no-holds barred Commander in Chief. We need a Commander in Chief who holds no future political aspirations. We need a Commander in Chief who has no employment desires in the agencies and businesses needing total reconstruction or total dissolution.
Any world leader receiving a call from Donald Trump will pick up the phone. He's the only one capable and willing to do the gritty stuff that must be done for our survival.
