The Red vs Blue struggle no longer refers to states. It's a rural vs urban struggle.

Far too difficult to bridge. The city dwellers are too disconnected from reality and see the country dwellers as mindless rubes and Deplorables.

I also think that urban areas tend to be poor with drug and crime issues. This also influences their need for free money as they view it. The money given to support the urban poor also seems to not get them out of poverty, but just keeps them on the edge. So, they always need to democrats handouts to survive. They give them lots of fish, but no fishing poles.

Tax the rural folks less and the city dwellers more since they're dense anyway.
