Danger Close
The continued Biden presidency and the candidacy of Kamala Harris are clear and present dangers to the American Constitution.
The phrase “danger close” has specific meaning.
It means a threat is near friendly forces, that something wicked this way comes and as we get closer to the November elections, I’m hearing that call in my head with increasing frequency.
Trump is not the “threat to democracy”, that threat comes from the other side of the aisle.
Kamala Harris is an interesting study in personalities and represents the threat to, and the erosion of, the remainder of our constitutional and representative republic.
I think she is just the most current version of a certain personality we have seen evolve in the past decade, one that is comfortable in exchanging their own personal autonomy, not for real power – because they are incapable of holding or executing real power, but for professional and personal reward, be it financial, reputational or simply status within a clique important to them.
There are people, highly placed, who are perfectly willing and able to intellectually, morally, and ideologically prostitute themselves to another person or cabal in exchange for the personal gains of the trappings of power.
Maybe it is not a true personality type, more of an individual characteristic embedded within a personality type. There are several possibilities. One might call them:
Opportunists – Someone who takes advantage of situations or relationships to gain personal benefits, often at the expense of integrity.
Social climbers – Someone who seeks to improve their social status, often by associating with people of higher status, sometimes in a disingenuous way.
Sycophants – A person who flatters or fawns over others, especially those in power, to gain favor or status.
Sellouts – Someone who compromises their values or principles for personal gain, often material or social.
Doormats – A person who allows themselves to be taken advantage of by others, often in exchange for approval or status.
Whatever they are and however we choose to describe them, especially if they are president, or are running for the office, they are unconstitutional.
We don’t elect a Soviet style “central committee” or a “shadow president” to run the Executive Branch, effectively running the country - but that is where we are and what we have.
Joe Biden still holds the Office of the Presidency even though it has been clear for months (years for some of us) he is not capable of executing is duties. In my estimation, the Twenty-fifth Amendment should have been invoked years ago.
I have said it before, the Constitution and the legitimate laws flowing from it only have value if we treat them as if they have value.
If the Twenty-fifth is not invoked in such a case as clearly applicable as that of Joe Biden, it will never be invoked.
Any law, once ignored by those charged with their enforcement, becomes less and less applicable as time progresses. When a law is ignored in one situation, it makes it much more difficult to be applied in another situation without surfacing charges of unequal, unfair, and arbitrary application. The enforcers do this, I think, to make laws with which they do not agree much more difficult to enforce in the future – our border is a perfect example. Eventually, one creates a “too big to fail” potentiality – as in what we are hearing now with the “How is Trump going to deport eleven million illegal aliens who have been here for decades?”
Many think the number is probably closer to twenty-five million.
The Democrat party has clearly expressed that in their scheme of governance, the Presidency is really a figurehead, a ceremonial position and they intend to have government controlled by unelected members of the Democrat leadership, acting through cutouts in the cabinet, the appointed heads of the various agencies, and the entrenched, unelected bureaucracy.
As the woman says in the old Esurance commercials, “That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works.”
And if we allow it to work this way, woe be unto us all.
The Democratic Machine has left Joe Biden in place as President for one reason. If they invoked the 25th Amendment before November, Kamala Harris would become President, and then the demand for her to do something about the open border, inflation, and every other negative problem we're facing. As it is, she can just smile now and say that "Joe Biden is still the President," so naturally the problems won't get resolved until January 20th, 2025.
I'd like to know what would happen if she is elected and then goes back on all her promises. Would the sheep that put her in office do anything?
"Danger Close" is a U.S. military code used by troops requesting indirect fire support (artillery, mortars, etc.) where the intended target is in such close proximity to the friendlies that there is a chance that a stray round might land on their position. It encourages the shooters to double check their bubbles before pulling the lanyard. But your use in the political context is entirely appropriate.
As one of the wierd sisters said in Macbeth, Act 4, scene 1: "By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes."
