With a Whimper
Many great fortunes (and civilizations) have disappeared due to simple neglect.
It is not uncommon for descendants to live off the successes of their ancestors.
Politicians, especially those on the left, constantly claim that America is a “rich” nation, and we can “afford” to fund everything coming our way.
Everyone knows or has witnessed how the children and grandchildren of successful people can waste away fortunes and put themselves and their children in a position of poverty. Three generations ago, the family held immense wealth, the current generation works at Starbucks.
My dad called them “poor little rich kids.”
It can happen in other areas as well.
Military might, a successful society and culture, a rock-solid financial base, advancements in science, technology, and math, being looked to as a global leader, these are all the hallmarks of a “rich nation.”
A post at Powerline about how the Pentagon has lost the capability to take care of the horses of the Caisson Platoon, pulled the “caissons carrying the caskets of Herbert Hoover, Franklyn D. Roosevelt, Douglas MacArthur, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and thousands of others.”
“In February of 2022, two horses had to be euthanized due to colon impaction. An internal investigation was ordered, which revealed poor quality hay and feed; too many horses grazing on undersized, grazed lots leading to consumption of sediment and increased parasites; poor training; insufficient resources; and inadequate living conditions. Despite the attention these first two deaths garnered, horses kept dying. The Army temporarily suspended caisson support for military funerals in Arlington National Cemetery while efforts were made to improve the living conditions and care of the caisson horses, but it was recently announced that after more than a year these efforts have not yet resulted in the 60+ healthy horses needed to resume the horse-drawn caisson funerals.”
How does this happen?
It happens when not only knowledge is lost, but when any concept of duty and due care is lost – and this is in the US military, an organization where duty was once a primary value.
But it is not just the Pentagon.
We see a general degradation of quality across our country, the military and government are just two obvious examples. From the failures of our military (the pier offshore in Gaza) to the absolute idiocy in government (the decision to retreat from Afghanistan), the quality and accuracy of decision making is terrible.
Look at how the White House attacks the truth by constantly lying about the physical and mental condition of our alleged president.
Even truth is treated as if it is worthless.
In my opinion, this is the squandering of the American fortune by idiots who do not understand our power and standing in the world takes constant effort and excellence, and that constant effort supports ongoing prosperity and the increase in our overall fortunes (not just money, but it strengthens all areas).
America has been a rich nation in many ways, but our riches have not been maintained. The necessary work has not been done to protect and increase our power and influence.
Look at how many nations are now joining the Saudis in rejection of the American dollar for trade and/or a global trading currency.
Many great civilizations have passed from history, not by war or cataclysm, but with a whimper.
Neglect is a powerful force.
There is an entire political party wedded to the idea that America has always been bad, has never been great, and deserves to perish from the face of this earth.
They must be stopped.
We can stop them.

We've done it to ourselves. How long have we allowed known Leftists to teach in our schools, and have done nothing about them? "It's a free country," until it isn't!
I found the report about the criminal lack of care of the Cassion drawing horses horrifying. Maybe our Rainbow Warrior military can no longer attract men from rural western regions who have grown up knowing how to care for horses.
