President Biden was cornered a few weeks ago by Peter Doocy of Fox News when Doocy asked about Biden’s previous remarks from May that fully vaccinated Americans no longer needed to wear masks.
“Mr. President, you said, if you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask,” Doocy said.
To which Biden replied, “It was true at the time…”
Not “I believed it was true at the time” but “It was true AT THE TIME…”
This is an example of “situational truth”, the kissing cousin of situational ethics. Situational ethics allows for the determination of right and wrong based on a majority vote or majority consensus – or even the selfishness or agenda of one person. The same goes for “situational truth”.
But situational ethics and situational truths are not true ethics or objective truths.
Most of what comes from the left in the form of reason is situational these days. You are black - until you are not. You are a crusading journalist fighting fascism - until you are not. You are a sexist, misogynist predator, preying on women – until you are not.
You could be like Larry Elder – a black man from South Central who, as far as he knows, has been black all his life, but now is the “Black Face of White Supremacy” (according to the LA Times). You can be like Andy Ngo, a gay man who reports on actual fascist activities but gets beaten by ANTIFA and the Washington Post claims he probably deserved it. You might be a person escaping real persecution in Cuba, only to be told you won’t be allowed in America when the US/Mexico border is overrun. You might even be a member of “Time's Up”, an organization allegedly fighting against sexual abuse only to find out your leadership helped Andrew Cuomo create strategies to defend himself against multiple credible claims of sexual abuse. You might even a woman who has been sexually abused by a powerful man during the age of “Believe every woman” and “#MeToo” only to be told to “There, there, my dear. It probably was that short skirt you were wearing. You probably were asking for it.” What about watching Trump rallies being called “superspreader events” while BLM protests and Women’s marches are not.
Think about that for a minute.
Also think about the overt black supremacism (same ideo-theology as white supremacy, just more politically useful) of Ibram X. Kendi and Ta-Nehisi Coates. Think about why the southern border is open. Think about the “mostly peaceful” burning protests of 2020 and the protection of Emmy winning (now rescinded) Andrew Cuomo vs. all hands on deck character assassination of Bret Kavanaugh. How about Tara Reade or Juanita Broderick?
There is a commonality.
It is not that the harmed people in the examples are conservatives – many of them aren’t even Republicans – the commonality is that they oppose, are raising unwanted attention or otherwise causing problems for the progressive agenda.
It’s all political, all ideological.
None of it is about race, sex, gender, science, or anything else.
Nothing but pure politics.
If you do not have the right politics, you will be viciously destroyed.
And in politics, the goalposts are mounted on casters.
They change based on the situation.
It was true at the time.
