This, Too, Shall Pass
The arc of history bends, not toward justice, but toward objective reality.
What makes our times seem so absurd is not that they are, it is that we KNOW they are.
We have a basis from which to compare, there are things we know are true and factual because many of the historical mysteries have either been confirmed or denied through true intellectual and scientific inquiry. We also have the advantage of history, with each day that passes adding to the hundreds of thousands of years already residing in the repository of observable human and natural truth.
Yesterday, I noted my optimism that we are approaching a tipping point where the scales will begin to tilt back toward rationality, reason, and logic – simply because the issues created today are entirely understandable creations that simply cannot exist without being propped up by those who socially, politically, or economically benefit from them.
Some disagreed, and I respect and understand their positions - but I do remain optimistic.
It isn’t that I believe the transition back to reality will be painless or easy, I remain so because such a transition is simply inevitable.
Civilization has experienced such times before. Civilizations have believed things that were simply not true – mostly because humans did not know better.
Once humans believed human sacrifice appeased the gods, kings had a divine right to rule, and alchemists could turn lead into gold. More recently humans believed bloodletting, leeches and the consumption of mercury were medical cures for many aliments, cigarettes were good for you, phrenology (taking measurements of people’s skulls and reading the bumps on their heads) was a real science and drapetomania (a condition causing black slaves to try to escape captivity) and something called “female hysteria” were real conditions. Interestingly the treatment for female hysteria was for the female patients to undergo weekly “pelvic massages.” During these sessions, a doctor would manually stimulate the female’s genitals, until the patient experienced repeated “hysterical paroxysm” (orgasms).
So, as like the White Queen of Lewis Carroll, humans often believed six impossible things before breakfast.
But we no longer believe those things.
Why?
Because humans discovered the falsity of those things.
As a side note, I know I do quote from Carroll’s “Alice” often, and it is because Carroll wrote it as a satire of his contemporaneous society, not as a children’s book. The fact that the satire still fits our times is evidence there are universal truths, that human nature never changes, and humans are almost entirely predictable.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…
Over the span of human history, people have made genuine discoveries that changed the direction of humanity.
From Isaac Newton to Thomas Edison and Nicola Tesla to James Watson and Francis Crick, factual, reality based, scientifically and rationally valid discoveries have changed the way we live.
It certainly seems that, like the alchemists of medieval times, there are plenty of people who yearn to join the pioneers of history by inventing false discoveries thereby initiating fake realities that exist only in a fictional, comic book sense, but that features the modern alchemists as the heroes of the story.
The difference is that true discoveries are falsifiable, they are logically capable of being proven false. It is no surprise that our modern alchemists discover things such as gender fluidity, transgenderism, and other miraculous human conditions in areas where the unfalsifiable is the norm.
Most of the time that means “discoveries” occur in the social and soft sciences.
While these “discoveries” may contain truths, taken as a whole, they are not true.
For example, I am convinced of the power of the human mind. Humans can accomplish extraordinary things when their brains convince them of the necessity or the possibility of success, but there are limits to what the mind can do. I have no doubt there are males who truly believe they are females and vice versa, but the fact remains that the mind cannot overcome natural and biological reality. No matter how much the human body is butchered, the transformation is only cosmetic because at a genetic level, nothing changes.
As much as doctors of the 19th century were prone to diagnosing women with “female hysteria” and treating it by inducing “hysterical paroxysm”, the 21st century doctors of psychology and medicine are diagnosing “hysterical transgenderism” and relieving those symptoms through the same orgasmic “cures”.
In my opinion, that relegates transgenderism to the same status as the “science” of alchemy and "gender reassignment" doctors to the status of alchemists, marking a thousand years of promises of changing lead into gold.
Wise half-Nubian King Barackus the First once said that the arc of history bends toward justice - but that’s not true at all. That arc must be bent by human minds, backs, and hands. Justice is a human construct; it is manufactured by human civilization. The natural world is often a cold and cruel place. Civilizations, like our American ideation of Western Civilization, have made the world a better place – for all people.
It may take us a bit to figure it out, but the natural arc of history bends not toward justice, but toward objective reality.
The point is that no matter how hard people wish for something does not make it reality. Reality is falsifiable, it can be subjected to tests to prove when something is true or false.
Reality can neither be created or ignored. It is like gravity, it just exists – and more than that, it is unavoidable whether you believe it exists or not.
And that, my friends, is why I remain convinced that when it comes to our Age of Absurdity, this, too, shall pass.
Wait! Are you telling me that it isn’t true all hysterical Women need is a good orgasm? ‘Would you like a neck/foot rub Dear. Leading to a pelvic massage?’ This has more or less worked me for for decades. Not perfectly mind you. But, in general, it’s been a go to of mine that has shown remarkable results in studies. The...um...nature of it has made the peer review part awkward.
The newest advertisement for the drug Xiaflex recommends that men supplement this new drug by yanking on their penises. This seems like a quaint return to the "pelvic massage" therapy for female hysteria. In fact, a cursory review of the news makes it appear that the entire Western world has reverted to mental masturbation in an effort to block out any possibility that a sense of reality might sneak in.
Our government has become Stalinist, with its secret hearings. Our hospital's emergency wards are filled 24/7 with people who have no insurance.
On a personal level, my budget for the month of July has already been reached and breached.
In a time where gas prices are at an all-time high, the Biden administration has pirated our nation's gas reserves and is selling them to China.
The nation is effectively bankrupt and yet we continue to send billions of dollars to wage a war against Russia.
While the myth of lemmings filing into the ocean has been debunked, it appears that our society, sensing its inability to function, thrive, and survive, has opted for mass euthanasia.
Turning lead into gold seems more logical than turning males into females, and vice-versa.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration threatens to withhold school lunches from public schools that do not allow boys into girls' bathrooms and locker rooms.
Maybe it's time to face the reality that America is no longer viable.
