I got asked this over the weekend:
“How can you continue to support Trump? He has been impeached twice, three different judges have separately said he was guilty of rape, of fraud and of initiating an insurrection, and on top of that, he has been charged with 91 felony counts.”
I know I’m not the only one subjected to this question.
My response was simple.
I don’t believe any of it. I think it is all, pardon the pun, trumped up codswallop.
I think most people who are not latibulating (hiding oneself in a corner) with a bag over their heads can see the stark difference in the way Democrats are treated for virtually identical “crimes”.
The examples are legion and playing out in real time.
Trump being investigated for two years based on a scam concocted by the Hillary Clinton campaign. Two impeachments over nothing while Biden claimed to have done with which Trump was alleged to have done – and on video, no less. The treatment of ANTIFA vs. how J6 people were ruthlessly persecuted. Trump facing centuries in jail for having certain documents while the DOJ refuses to prosecute Biden for his decades long mishandling of classified documents some, as a Senator, he was never allowed to remove from secure locations. Trump being prosecuted for fraud for simply telling lenders and investors how he valued his own properties (even though all the documents carried a disclaimer statement). Trump facing RICO charges for questioning an election that evidenced a lot of strange occurrences, all of which adds up to an insordescent campaign of persecution through partisan lawfare.
Seldom have the American people had the chance to see such bifurcated treatment exhibited in real time, virtually back-to-back, presenting prima facie evidence of the differences in the way “crimes” are defined when Democrats or Republicans are involved.
Truthfully, it isn’t so much they are Republicans – it is anyone who supports Trump, are within in his circle, or even tangentially connected to him.
The State of New York even changed a law, extending the statute of limitations, with the express intent to allow Trump to be sued in civil court for sexual abuse by E. Jean Carroll, a woman with less credibility than Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick combined, and then found him guilty of defamation for calling Carroll out as a nutball.
As far as I know, no one else has been subjected to this law in New York state.
One once believed that ex post facto laws that amount to an unconstitutional bill of attainer wouldn’t be allowed, but I guess the ritual abuse of the Constitution has just become so commonplace we are just supposed to ignore them now.
The Democrats claim that Trump, if elected, will carry out a “revenge presidency” aimed at those who are responsible for the persecution of his family for the past eight years.
To some extent, I believe that is true. I think giving the Democrats a taste of their own medicine is what it is going to take to get America back on track. The Democrats have shotgunned their own Kool-Ade for so long, the actually believe their own bullshit.
I also believe that at least a modicum of the support for Trump is based, not on what he has done for the country while president (which was awesome), but what has been done to him. True Americans still believe in fair play, and they know that nothing the Democrats and their allies in the Deep State have done (and continue to do) to Trump, his family, and his supporters is even remotely fair.
In this, Trump is like Obi-Wan Kenobi – strike him down and he only becomes more powerful.
Trump’s support also comes from memories of a prosperous America during his term, an America where family incomes were rising across all income and demographic classes, inflation was in check, gas prices were down contrasted with the ridiculous Modern Monetary Theory based Bidenomics, exploding consumer prices, and the government trying to regulate your furnace and every kitchen appliance in your home while forcing you into an electric vehicle.
As the Hell on wheels that is the Republican primary season rolls on, with every debate and campaign event, Trump’s challengers are proving to be also-rans. DeSantis, someone I initially thought was ready for the big time, has stalled. Nikki Haley has captured the ten percent of the GOP that is the Bush wing of the party and Vivek Ramaswamy, a guy with a lot of intellect and energy (coupled with a lot of political immaturity and inexperience) has pretty much talked himself out of consideration. The rest are cannon fodder.
That leaves Trump as the real life version of Connor MacLeod the Highlander, to carry the sword and fight the fight.
There can be only one.
After listening to Vivik...I think you're correct in your evaluation...but would he make a REALLY FUN Press Secretary? The Leftist media would go into total meltdown trying to deal with him. 🤣
Even if I didn't like and support DJT as I do, I'd vote for him in hopes of his victory, just to be the thumb stuck in the eye of the Left. I pray he's elected and pulls the pin on the M67 and tosses it into the DC swamp.
