“Live your truth.”
“It’s OK. Your feelings define your reality.”
Since the excerpts were leaked from the Covenant Christian School shooter’s manifesto, I’ve been wondering how many times Audrey Hale (who “presented” as a man) ran up against reality but was told by popular culture (or perhaps people in her life) that her feelings were legitimate and were her “truth”.
You just wonder if this was the message she heard in the face of life’s most impossible truth and reality – that a biological female can become a male or a biological male can become a female.
This is perhaps the greatest deception of all, yet it is one that society and culture treats as if it was as inconsequential and benign as choosing a flavor of ice cream.
I think a variation of this cultural ethos contributes to other mass shooters who have been allowed to believe that in some way, killing innocents is a legitimate way to resolve some real or perceived injury life has handed them.
We also see it in the anti-Israel/pro-Palestinian conflict.
The world is against the Jewish people – hard not to notice how every time Israel defends itself after Hezbollah or Hamas randomly attacks Israel’s civilian population, the UN can’t wait to jump in and claim the IDF is committing war crimes. Even in Western states that have been long time friends of the world’s only Jewish state, the rabid cries of the new Nazis are being shouted in public. “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, they scream, putting themselves in solidarity with regimes that want to see Israel destroyed and every Jew in the world murdered.
And there is nobody standing up and telling these people their “truth” is a lie and their anger doesn’t make that lie a reality.
Of these cowards, the Biden regime is, in my opinion, the most loathsome.
Of course, the Democrats have always found a way to promise everybody whatever they wanted, all the while knowing that honoring those promises are an impossibility. As long as they could keep that idea out of the public mind, they could keep the disparate groups far enough apart that they didn’t realize one of the groups were going to be screwed – or more likely, nobody was going to get what they were promised and they would have to settle for watered down ten dollar tequila shots instead of the top shelf booze they thought they were going to get.
Democrats have long been able to keep their perfidy and double dealing under wraps, hiding it just below the radar. They were able to hide their support for ANTIFA and BLM while retaining the mirage of fairness. Then came J6 and its aftermath to contrast against the yearlong violent protests from the former movements. Amazingly, with the help of the media, they were able to put a new coat of paint over the rust and rot, which allowed them to move on with the persecution of President Trump and his family (with which most Democrats approve).
But the current Israel-Hamas war is different. For the first time in history, the militant pockets of opposition to Israel and the antisemitism that have popped up all over the fruited plain are too visible to ignore – and that has put the Democrats tendency to play both sides against the middle in full view. The stakes are much, much higher in the Democrats con game because the existence of the only democratic state in the Middle is at risk.
Biden continues to proclaim support for Israel while backdooring policies that hurt or hamper the Israelis ability to defend themselves – while continuing to play footsie with the corrupt theocrats who run the radical Islamist state of Iran.
The basic problem I see is that majorities do not have the will to stand up and say – “No, changing your sex is impossible, killing innocent people isn’t justified by your hurt feelings, there is no such thing as a ‘mostly peaceful’ riot, and Israel’s self-defense from people who want to exterminate Jews is not a ‘war crime’. Reality has no tie to your feelings and cannot be based on lies you are told, or you tell yourself.”
In all these cases, I am left to wonder what a difference it would make if enough principled, reality-based people had stood up and simply said, “You are wrong” – and had the conviction to make it stick.
When I was teaching my Introduction to Politics class in college and explaining the concepts of objectivity and objective reality to my students one of them excitedly raised his hand and I recognized him: “But Dr. Anderson,” he said, “don’t you realize that those ideas have been proven to be false by the movie,’The Matrix!?’ “”Other students were nodding approval but I had no clue what he was claiming for I had not seen the movie. Had I seen the film I could have responded, “No, a mere movie script proved nothing. But within the plot there was an objective reality, namely the grimy underworld of Zion inhabited by the real humans and the sterile surface world inhabited by the computers.” But this incident revealed how poorly our public education has developed critical reasoning skills that students would consider a mere science fiction plot as “proof” of anything. Likewise how many youngsters think the Van Daniken books “proved” that space aliens built the pyramids?
Though I agree that the morally strong need to stand up and say NO - You are Wrong, but I am afraid that there are not enough of them in DC to make a difference. They are all too busy being afraid they won't get re-elected to even bother with what their conscience is saying!
My 2 cents.
