Cocaine Mitch warned Harry Reid a decade ago what would happen.

President Trump’s second term, briefly interrupted by four years of an imaginary president, is going to be interesting for a couple of reasons.

First springs from the idiom, “What goes around comes around.”

Mitch McConnell famously warned Harry Reid that he would regret nuking the Senate filibuster on SCOTUS justices when he did it to aid Obama in appointing radical judges to the bench, saying:

“The important thing for our Democratic friends to remember is that you may not be in total control in the future, and anytime you start fiddling around with the rules of the Senate, I think you always need to put yourself in the other fellow’s shoes and just imagine what might happen when the wind shifts.”

Jonathan Turley had a great piece illustrating how Democrats are going to rue the day some of their efforts in the courts were successful – like how they fought the efforts of Texas and other border states trying to stop the flood of foreign aliens crossing the border. They were generally successful obtaining court decisions that only the federal government had responsibility for managing the border situation and the states had no role in it.

Well, harking back to the words of Cocaine Mitch, last Tuesday, the wind shifted.

Now President Trump has the blessing of leftist judges to do what needs to be done to shut the open border and deport the ten to twenty million illegal aliens allowed to enter the country under the shadow government allegedly run by Biden and Harris (aka the Border Czar) but really run by Obama and his former officials.

Notice that the talk about packing the SCOTUS, ending the Senate filibuster completely, expanding the power of the Executive branch, making the Senate representation proportional to population, ending minority rights in Congress, and other brilliant progressive ideas of the moment have gone quiet.

Imagine what would happen now if Trump and the GOP controlled Senate suddenly decided to grant the wishes of Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts and Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York, the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, wishes that were memorialized in a bill co-sponsored by Reps. Hank “Island Flipper” Johnson of Georgia and Mondaire Jones of New York and added four conservative Associate Justices to the SCOTUS roster.

Somehow, I doubt these radical Democrats would be as enthusiastic today as they were back in 2021 when they filed this bill.

But think of all the other judicial frustrations vested upon the GOP and the states by left leaning judges and courts that handed power to the federal government and its agencies that can now be used by the Trump administration. From illegal immigration and sanctuary cities to the lawfare campaign against him, J6 protesters and bystanders, the Democrats have handed Trump the tools to undo everything they have done and set things right.

And the word schadenfreude just doesn’t quite capture the enormity of it.

The John Kerry excuse of “Well, I was for it before I was against it” isn’t quite going to cut it.

The second reason is the exposure of the pervasive fecklessness and massive hypocrisy of the progressive Democrats.

Trump was literally Hitler, Stalin and Mao rolled into one. He was going to send American into a totalitarian dark age, complete with internment camps, create a caste system, women were going to be stripped naked and sent to breeding camps, and he was going to arrest and jail every opponent and declare himself dictator on day one.

And now they are inviting him to the White House for canapes and discussions about the transition?

As podcaster Charlemagne Tha God noted:

“They’re [Democrats] not calling him a threat to democracy, they’re not calling him a fascist. It just makes you wonder how much of it did they really believe? On Monday they were just calling him that, and I would think that if you really believed that, then somebody’s speech would be about how America f’ed up and how things are about to be really bad. It just makes you wonder how much of it did they really believe? And how much was just politics.”

Newsflash Charlemagne – it was all lies. Everything. All of it.

Now what went around is coming around. The Democrats f’ed around and now they are going to find out.

And it is going to be glorious.
