The Real Racists Openly Reveal Themselves
“Often, when people speak strongly about fairness and equality, what they really are interested in is revenge.”
While I was doing manual work around the house today, my mind was crawling through the shag carpets of crypt dust in the dark, spiderweb decorated vaults of my mind to paraphrase something I recall reading that Friedrich Nietzsche wrote - maybe somebody else wrote it – but I do think it was old Freddie.
Very loosely remembered, it went something like this:
“Often, when people speak strongly about fairness and equality, what they really are interested in is revenge.”
If Nietzsche didn’t write that, he should have, because it is true.
It isn’t too difficult to imagine what the Democrats and their allies in ANTIFA, BLM, the NEA and AFT, the NAACP, the ACLU and the National Lawyers Guild are thinking about is far more about the latter then either of the former.
I’m told that because I look like someone who might have owned someone that looks like somebody else a couple of hundred years ago, I am a racist and should pay reparations to that person who looks like somebody who was a slave a couple of hundreds of years ago.
Now, you may think reparations are OK, but most people are going to think that forcing people (who didn’t do anything to the people who are supposed to be their victims) to pay those who are alleged to be the victims is more like retribution and revenge than a fair and equitable settlement.
It seems since I’ve always been a conservative, I have always been called racist…by people I have never met nor will ever meet.
The first time racism was employed as a national political tactic was in the 1964 presidential elections because Barry Goldwater, the Republican candidate was a conservative and since racist Democrats had also promoted conservative values, he had to be a racist. Speaking of racist Democrats, at the same time Goldwater was campaigning, Democrats were fighting against the Civil Rights Act and the newly elected Alabama governor, Democrat George Wallace, was giving his “Segregation Forever” speech.
George Wallace’s speech is instructive and germane for a couple of reasons.
First, the speech is instructive of what real racism looks like. Real racism isn’t disagreeing with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Nicole Hannah Jones, Henry Rogers (aka Ibram Xolani Kendi), Robin DiAngelo, or the Taliban Twins (Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib). It isn’t calling for lower taxes and smaller government. It isn’t stating that reparations are unwarranted and unworkable. It’s not calling for border security or voter ID.
It is thinking and acting as if a particular race is superior to another based on nothing but skin color and then instituting policies that reflect those views.
Secondly, if you look at Wallace’s speech, there are many conservative points in there – individual liberty, states right to determine their own fates, free market, limited government, faith in God – but none of the conservative principles in Wallace’s diatribe are racist in nature. They do not require a person to believe in the supremacy of the white race, to force blacks or other minorities to be discriminated or oppressed or for anyone to propose or enact race-based laws or regulations. They are the principles our nation was founded upon and anodyne – innocuous – with respect to race.
Racism is not a desired or required part of conservative ideals, that means conservatism is “severable” from Wallace’s racist ideological position.
The fact remains that the Republican party was formed to abolish slavery in America, and a little over a century after the Civil War ended, without the leadership of Republican Senator Everett Dirksen, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would not have passed. Democrat Senator Robert Byrd filibustered the bill. As to the votes, in the Senate, 82% of Republicans voted for the bill vs. 69% of the Democrats, similarity in the House, 80% of the Republican representatives voted in favor vs. 63% of Democrats.
It is this time period on which the Democrats focus when they try to make “the parties switched positions” when the racist positions and actions of the Democrat Party are brought up – and there is some truth to that assertion – but the “switch” was Republicans taking the conservative positions from the Democrats while leaving the racist ideology behind for the Democrats to keep – which they have as the constructed the welfare “plantation” of Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” programs.
I guess my disappointment of the past has given way to hope for the future through recent events.
When you look back at the things the GOP has done to help black Americans, you must wonder why it has taken so long for the people and this party to start punching back after being called racists (among other things we are not) for over a half a century.
But the real racists are being open about their racism and it makes my probably Nietzche quote relevant.
In April of 2021, a few outlets reported about Dr. Aruna Khilanani, a New York City-based psychiatrist telling an audience at the Yale School of Medicine that she had fantasies of "unloading a revolver into the head of any white person that got in my way." She also said she’d walk away from the shooting "with a bounce in my step" and that white people "make my blood boil" and "are out of their minds and have been for a long time”.
Now imagine that I said those things about black people.
If I did, you would know immediately, you were dealing with a racist.
So, I’m going to just going to go ahead and say that the good doctor is a racist.
Her entire position is about retribution and revenge – violent retribution to be sure, but retribution, nonetheless.
I few days ago, I made the case that the left has always felt free to do the things they do because nobody calls them out on it in any material way and since they never suffer for their comments or actions, there is no reason to stop. They have been allowed to go so far that they now automatically define any opposition as conspiracy theory, disinformation, or misinformation.
It is not OK now and it never was, we just let it happen to us.
It is time to make the race liars face the music.
