The Madness of Activists With Teaching Licenses
We live in a world in which the prevention of fascism is called fascism.
Democrats are riled up, claiming it is fascism over freedom (so sayeth AOC) that the GOP wants to ban age-inappropriate pornography in public schools (as if any porn is age-appropriate in public schools). They are claiming this is a national extension of Florida's Parental Rights law - which they inaccurately call the "Don't Say Gay" law.
This never bothered them when they took the actual fascist route to ban God from schools. Up until lately, even the mention of God's name or a prayer offered to Him was enough cause to be fired, prosecuted, sued in civil court, or be destroyed by social media attacks.
Having pornographic books that feature oral and anal sex on library shelves is just fine, but to have a Bible sharing those shelves is unacceptable. Here in Utah, Democrat parents are using these very parental rights laws to try to get the Bible banned as pornographic.
There is a line here.
The battle lines have been drawn around your local public school.
Parental rights statutes are an attempt to prevent the will of parents from being usurped by activists with teaching licenses in public schools. The truth is that there is no “ban” on books, if parents want their children to read the books to which access is prohibited for certain age levels by these laws, they are free to check them out from the local public library or to purchase them for their own use at home.
I've never been a fan of banning books - but I never had to deal with teachers like we have today, teachers who are more interested in creating an new society in their own warped image than they are actually teaching traditional math, English, and science - all things that have been defined as racist at one time or the other.
I can tell you, from my brief testimonies before the Utah State School Board and involvement in fighting LGBTQ indoctrination in one of our elementary schools, these teachers don’t have to have purple and pink hair, tattoos, or body piercings to be activists. I have witnessed teachers who looked just like my first-grade teacher, Miss Ruth Jones, who sat in church with my family, spout the “truth” of CRT in front of a captive class of eight-year-olds.
I’ve debated CRT and Queer Theory with teachers. While I’ve never been at the same level as Christopher Rufo of the Manhattan Institute, I have been successful in forcing them to admit that both are theories, not proven facts, the way they are being taught. I have also been able to get teachers to admit that CRT as applied to history is not “history” per se, but an intrepretation of history from a particular perspective. She admitted that CRT was a “lens” that revealed the racism in historical events that were not generally accepted to be caused by racism.
These discussions have also revealed that no matter what the state and local school boards have declared, there are activists in the schools who find clever ways to continue their activism without tripping over the line set before them.
I’m still not comfortable with banning books, but I am more uncomfortable with social and political activist/technocrats deciding what and how children should be taught. When a teacher who is open about their Christianity is passed over and a purple haired radical waving a “Pride” flag is hired, that means something – it is a physical representation of what the school administration believes is important, that the left’s idea of academic freedom only applies to their collectivist concept of education where only things that support their idea of a perfected society are legitimate.
I’ve always been amazed at the left’s process to rush children into adulthood and to infantilize adults when it suits their purpose. They want sixteen-year-olds to be able to legally vote but won’t let them have a firearm until they are twenty-one, if ever. That this is a contradiction never bothers them because they never consider how random their ideology is at the micro level and makes no rational sense at a macro level.
This is another example of how the left crosses lines that have never been crossed and then screams about people trying to stop that threat. Taliban Sister Rashida Tlaib stood up on the floor of the House yesterday to screech that “trans kids are not threat to anybody” – but that isn’t even the point. It isn’t the threat posed by kids, but the threat posed to kids with which we are concerned.
Transgenderism is a threat to impressionable kids and is being used by the same activists with teaching licenses to parlay parental mental illness and normal hormonal confusion into irreversible pharmacological damage and surgical butchery on children too immature to decide what they want for dinner.
These bans, no matter how much they concern me on a philosophical level, are necessary for the survival of our society, one that must promote free thinking rather than the creation of a drone army of indoctrinated kids.
These are unfortunate but legitimate actions that responsible people are forced to take due to the absolute madness of the American left.
This video just surfaced here in NM where the teachers union and school board "own" the schools. We are 51st in the country (yes, 51st) for student learning. The video is just more validation of your comments.
