The Little Death
A short clip from a 2014 Australian movie explains why Christians in America should support Trump if he is the nominee.
I was told again today that if I was really a Christian, I couldn't support Trump.
This person quoted Adam Kinzinger's tweet of a couple days ago that to call yourself a Christian and support Trump means that you don't understand your religion.
I saw Kinzinger's tweet shortly after it hit the innertoobs and thought then that to make that kind of a statement, there is a whole lot of Democrat supported evil you have to overlook.
I responded that due to the high levels in the Democrat Party of hypersexualization of kids, the butchery of "gender affirming" care, the support for liars and hypocrites of every race and color, the denial of God, the support of people who want to exterminate Jews, the blind support of abortion, the preference of criminals over victims, the prioritization of illegal aliens over our own homeless and retired military and that Trump supporters aren't constantly telling me what a thief, racist, bigoted, evil, white supremacist I am, I can't possibly imagine supporting a Democrat or a NeverTrumper who obviously hates me in a very unchristian way...
I more or less slammed the door on the conversation by saying I believed she was the one who didn't understand that her real religion wasn't Christianity, it was pagan statism.
She looked at me like I was crazy.
As she huffed about how ignorant I was and walked away, I was reminded of one of those short clickbait movie clips I saw on Facebook Reels in which it was clear a marriage was breaking up and the husband had been seeking solace outside the marriage (I googled it and found it was from an Australian film from 2014 called "The Little Death").
Here is the exchange that came to mind when my friend asked how I could support Trump and be a Christian:
The wife confronts the husband by saying:
"She's not younger than me. She's not skinnier than me. She's not prettier than me. Why couldn't it just be me?"
The husband replies:
"Because she's softer than you. She's quieter than you. She doesn't yell at me. She doesn't call me an idiot or tell me to shut up all the time. She listens to me. She's nice to me. She doesn't make me feel like the only thing stopping her from being happy... is me."
To me, the Democrats and NeverTrumpers are represented by the wife, the husband the Trump Republicans. Trump in this scenario is the girlfriend.
Based on who the Democrats and NeverTrumpers have proven to be through their own words and actions, I can't see how a Christian can't support Trump.
Or as I put it to someone. “What’s the worst case scenario for the world. Absolute worst?” He hemmed and hawed. I said “Nuclear war. Agreed?” He did. “How close are we right now? To me we are closer now to all out nuclear war than we ever have been. Even including the Cuban Missile Crisis. Closer now because one party actually wants it. That’s you guys.” He said “So Putin gets to just take Ukraine? You’re okay with that?” “Right. See. You’re justifying nuclear war where likely 2 Billion will die. Trump won’t lead us there. Biden will.”
I like the analogy. Thought provoking. Let’s see who gets it.
