The Great Red State vs. Blue State Debate
Hannity's sideshow isn't drawing media attention. I know why that is.
I'm going to admit that I watched the beginning of the Red vs. Blue State kerfuffle between Newsom and DeSantis but stopped when Newsom started lying and DeSantis came back at him with facts, leaving Gav no recourse other than to go into a Gregorian chant of Democrat Talking Points.
That is to say, I saw about 8 minutes of it.
Lincoln versus Douglas, it was not.
I normally don't watch these "debates" because they aren't really debates. Usually, and unfortunately for the American people, they are shouting matches consisting of about 5% information and 95% bluster - and that is especially true when more than two people are on the stage. Then it becomes a "look at me" contest with people looking for a sound bite that the media will gobble up.
Who won these is always based on popularity and confirmation bias. But I have noticed you can get a better perspective of won/lost by how hard the media works to protect their preferred Democrat - or the Republican who looks most like a Democrat if it is a strictly GOP debate.
The funny thing about the Hannity Traveling Circus Spectacular is that the media absolutely hates Ron DeSantis - not nearly as much as they hate Trump or love Nikki Haley - but in a matchup of Ron and Gavin the Greasy, there is no doubt they would claim Newsom won no matter what happened.
Well, you don't hear much of a defense for Gav in the mainstream media. There are a few on Twitter/X who are fanboi-ing Governor Hair Gel, but not many. I don't know if they assume not many Democrats watched because they have scraped the Fox News channel off their TV dials, but a couple of days on, MSNBC, CNN and other leftist outlets have simply stopped talking about it.
And that the speed with which they want it forgotten indicated that DeSantis mopped the Fox studio floor with The Great Manscaped Woke Hope.
Gav is the only Democrat still talking (whinging, actually) about it.
He now says DeSantis insulted and offended him.
Boo. Freakin'. Hoo.
Gav said:
"You're talking down the great state of California, talking down one of the great American cities, Los Angeles."
When the debate pivoted to the topic of parental rights in education, Newsom complained, "I don't like the way you demean people."
DeSantis pointed out the chaos in Los Angeles and San Francisco, the indoctrination of kids in California schools, and the homeless crisis that has exploded under progressive Democrat rule and even used the "poop map" of San Francisco as evidence of the downfall.
All the above are factual - and Ron brought the receipts.
To these, Gav responded:
"I don't like the way you demean the LGBTQ community. I don't like the way you demean and humiliate people you disagree with, Ron. I really find this fundamentally offensive, and this is a core value that distinguishes the values of my state and, frankly, the vast majority of Americans against the weaponization of education."
Dear God, how dishonest can you get? Newsom's comments in and of themselves mirror exactly what he accuses DeSantis of doing.
I wasn't going to write about it because I don't really care but the aftermath is kind of interesting.
Going in, I knew something Gov Gav apparently didn't, that California's governance under unchecked progressivism and postmodernism of California Democrats is utterly indefensible.
The real story is that it seems clear that the current Chairman of the Central Committee of the People’s Socialist Republic of California doused his presidential aspirations with 5 gallons of California gas (about $35 worth) and then flouted California laws about open fires during the wildfire season by tossing a match on them.
I am not a DeSantis partisan but I hope this is an augury of defeat for the “Our Democracy”TM communists in our coming national election.
Eight minutes? You lasted longer than we did. My lovely new bride couldn't take it, & we bailed much sooner than you. Superb analysis.
