The Fall of Pax Americana
Started under Obama, Biden means to complete the fall and plunge the world into conflict.
I don’t think people understand how important American power, and the ability to project it, is to world peace.
Not much time this week to write, but I was reminded of the following I wrote back in 2015 about the fall of Pax Americana, begun by Obama:
Is the world careening headlong toward a second Dark Age?
The Dark Ages we know from the history books was a period of intellectual darkness and barbarity from the fall of Rome in 476 AD to around 1000 AD featuring:
Widespread unrest as Pax Romana ended – Rome could no longer project power across Europe to enforce order
The rejection of legal order as factions sought to establish superiority and control over traditional territories
The rise of tribalism and ethnic segregation
Loss of faith in societal institutions
Economic collapse
De-urbanization as cities died, no longer able to support their populations
Rise of Islam and Islamic conquests leading to the First Crusade
Increased conflict between organized religion and science
The rise of pseudo-science – such as alchemy
There are so many similarities between the fall of Rome and the waning of Pax Americana:
Widespread unrest as Pax Americana ends – America can no longer project power to enforce order (or is not willing to do so)
The rejection of legal order as factions seek to establish superiority and control over traditional territories (Putin’s nostalgic Soviet daydreams and the never ending war in the Middle East)
The rise of tribalism and ethnic segregation (unrest in the Black community and calls for self-segregation in America)
Loss of faith in societal institutions (declining church attendance)
Economic collapse (the global recession)
De-urbanization as cities died, no longer able to support their populations (Detroit – need I say more?)
Rise of Islam and Islamic conquests (i.e. ISIS and Islamofascist terror groups)
Increased conflict between organized religion and science (evolution vs. creationism)
The rise of pseudo-science (such as “climate science”)
It is the height of arrogance for people to believe that there could not be a second coming of the Dark Ages. I’m sure that the people of Rome didn’t believe the Roman Empire would ever fall and yet there are so many things about America that recall Rome in its pre-fall days of bread and circuses and gladiatorial combat.
Might want to sharpen your swords and start working on that moat you have been putting off digging.
I actually think it is a good thing, because our "leaders" have so abused their privilege to plunder the world that they make the term 'Ugly American' seem a compliment.
The Republic was established to NOT get embroiled in entangling alliances, but to participate in free trade with any other willing partner. This can never truly be done when acting as a hegemon.
We need to detach from other such entangling alliances, such as NATO & SEATO, as the people of the US are NOT served by them. Neither should we be the rescuer of those unwilling to secure themselves.
It seems a system of regional security power blocs and alliances of smaller nations is coming into being, China, Russia, the EU, GSCC, and economic ones like BRICS, Belt & Road, and the EU. The US can easily trade with these entities, in fact we already do. India, Iran, & Pakistan are obvious thorns, but these are primarily bilateral competitions which will tend to economic resolution over time once the American bully stops bear-baiting them all or attempting to buy 'friendship' with borrowed money.
This is 'isolationism' only in a military sense. We need to defend the interests of the American People, but corporate interests rarely coincide, including military contractors.
I have been unable to find American-made versions of most of the basic parts to build my windmill prototype. Oh, well, they are all available as imports from China, but bolts, casters, and bearings that are made in the USA cannot be found by me. These are basic, fundamental components that would go into any machine someone would want to build. I do not believe America is capable of producing the basic materials we need. (I didn't ask where my 55-gallon drum was made, nor the firepit ring I'm using; and the sheet metal is made in USA as far as I can tell. Oh yes, the mousetraps I'm using proudly proclaim that they are made in USA.)
