The Best Country Governed by the Worst People
That statement sums up America's current situation.
Newsbusters has a story about how a USA Today "fact checker" (better described as a "regime protector"), brought down an avalanche of selective "fact checking" on Bob Bailey, some rando dude from Edgewater, Maryland with 427 Facebook followers.
Tim Graham, the Executive Editor of Newsbusters, sent the intrepid fact checker, Daniel Funke (definitely not of Funk and Wagnalls) of USA Today, this twitter message:
"I'm a little mystified why you would jump to 'correct' a Facebook post from a guy with 427 followers. That's some 'misinformation' threat?"
I know you dear readers are probably sick of me quoting Hayek (F.A., not Salma) and might gag a little at this excerpt because I have used it so many times - but Hayek was spot on in his description why the Soviets (and now, the modern ideologues who style themselves thusly) can book absolutely no dissent.
The professor noted:
"It is not difficult to deprive the seat majority of independent thought. But the minority who will retain an inclination to criticize must also be silenced. Public criticism or even expressions of doubt must be suppressed because they tend to weaken support of the regime. As Sidney and Beatrice Webb report of the position in every Russian enterprise: 'Whilst the work is in progress, any public expression of doubt that the plan will be successful is an act of disloyalty and even of treachery because of its possible effect on the will and efforts of the rest of the staff.'”
I've mentioned before how the left sees such as a danger due to the Ringelmann Effect.
The early work of Maximilian Ringelmann, a French agricultural engineer born in 1861, revealed that the more people who pulled on a rope, the less effort each individual contributed.
Imagine the damage a dissenter in the line with the mass of rope pullers could do if they questioned the goal or the progress - someone who never wanted to pull on the rope in the first place, someone who sees pulling the rope as a waste of time and effort or someone who has a better, more efficient way to accomplish the task.
That is why the left can leave no stone unturned in the witch hunt for dissidents. It's why they want everybody from Bob Bailey of Edgewater to Joe Rogan of Austin cancelled and exiled.
Cut off from society and silenced.
Can't have people who don't fall in lockstep with the regime's plans, you see. Too dangerous.
"Public criticism or even expressions of doubt must be suppressed because they tend to weaken support of the regime."
This is Sovietization of America by people so ignorant of history, they don't even know or understand the stark realities of what the Berlin Wall represented or that being a Soviet meant no escape from oppression other than death.
America is the best nation ever to be governed by the worst people.
