Stealing From The Future
The destruction of beauty in art, architecture, language and intellect is a crime against future generations.
There are people who are trendsetters, alleged thought leaders, people on the cutting edge of societal evolution, who think themselves brilliant and members of some new class - one of enlightened intelligentsia – but I see them as crude, vulgar, retrograde and animalistic. In my opinion, they represent steps backwards in the human quest for meaning, destroying far more than they build in the process.
When one studies the academic paper of the fringe “scientific” religions that are taking over our societal evolution, you see incomprehensible language, irreconcilable contradiction and a pseudo logic that defies all rational definition. This is an environment where revisionism, redefinition, non sequitur and emotional reasoning rule.
These people are murderer of words and language, intent upon destroying the meaning of words simply because they were created by an old, bearded white guy somewhere in time – even if they weren’t. English to them is as much a dead language as Latin is to the rest of us. They appropriate words and twist them to fit as if they were playing Tetris while smoking crack and in doing so, become criminals, stealing meaning and understanding from children of the future.
Just as they have destroyed beauty in art and architecture, they have destroyed beauty and meaning in words and language.
A few weeks ago, a manufactured crisis hit the Internet – Ron DeFascist had personally banned a book from the schools all over Florida that contained the original poem that was read at Biden’s inauguration by its author, Amanda Gorman. For about a week, the news was saturated with accusations of censorship – at least until the truth that it was moved from a shelf of elementary level books to the middle and high school shelf in one school in Miami-Dade County and it was never “banned’ in any reasonable definition of the word and DeSantis had nothing to do with any of it.
Other than that, the media’s take was completely accurate.
After having it brought to my attention by this kerfuffle, I had the occasion to read it ( I missed it at the inauguration – largely because I didn’t watch the inauguration) and after doing so, I added poetry to the things made ugly, scolding, and pedestrian by the new “intelligentsia”.
It was awful. It took the form of a Twitter rant by another run of the mill racialists who sees systemic racism in literally everything, including math, space travel and animal husbandry. My mental image of Gorman was the female cop character in those old 70’s Dolomite Blaxploitation films, the radical female with the massive Afro, a miniskirt, a sassy attitude, and a black belt in Hollywood movie karate.
Somehow, with the new intelligentsia, who and what you are have become more important than the quality of what you produce. I’m sure Don Lemon will confirm that since he, a black gay man, was fired from CNN for being a less than accurate news authority/commentator while the National Press Club just gave the Walter Cronkite Award for Political Reporting to “disinformation specialist” Ben Collins of NBC, a white gay man who lies so often his own network suspended him because he went apeshit on Elon Musk after Musk bought Twitter. More systemic racism, I guess.
Gorman’s poem is so bad, the only way she and it got attention in the first place is that she (I assume that is her pronoun) is black, female, and an activist, clearly facing constant oppression as she and her sisters were raised by a single English teacher mother in the Watts neighborhood of LA. The oppression was magnified when she attended New Roads, a private school in Santa Monica, for grades K–12. After which, she received a Milken Family Foundation college scholarship, studied sociology at Harvard, spent a semester studying in Madrid, Spain, then graduated cum laude from Harvard in 2020. Given this background, she clearly has firsthand knowledge of the black experience in America.
But her ticket was punched for membership in the new intelligentsia when she was named the very first National Youth Poet Laureate in 2017.
Gorman and her adoring retinue are examples of the people who can look back at incredible opportunities and advantages and still claim to be oppressed and discriminated against. She had an educational experience that 99.9% of Americans, regardless of race, creed, color, national origin or sexual orientation could only dream about.
Instead of being thankful, they choose to see themselves as victims for whom society simply cannot do enough.
And because they are “victims”, they take license to destroy beauty in all forms of art, architecture, language and thought, and in doing so, they steal the future from people they will never know and that, my friends, is a high crime indeed.

Just as tourists marvel at the ruins of Pompeii and Rome, future gawkers will look at that obscene sculpture of two giant hands holding a huge penis (in commemoration of Martin Luther King) and they will be correct in assuming that this was the result of a broken and lost society.
