Something Just Ain't Right
We better be asking some pointed questions and demanding answers that make sense.
The attached link was shared with me by a friend - another perspective on the Russo-Ukraine War. I don’t know if it has any validity, but it does raise some questions.
Again, I'm not supportive of Putin in any way. I’m no Russian apologist or servant of Putin. I have zero affinity for the Russian state at all. I grew up during the time of the Berlin Wall and the USSR, I know how bad they can be. I happened to agree with Romney at the time (and subsequently wasted my vote for him) when he said that Russia was our greatest geopolitical enemy.
I believe you can be completely opposed to Putin’s aggression and atrocities but still have enough brain cells to question why opposition to Russia seems so convenient and why so may Democrat doves have suddenly become hawks and have now joined with the perpetual war Republicans.
We all know that Robert Gates’ description of Biden, that he has been on the wrong side of foreign policy issues for going on five decades, is accurate. We know the Democrats have blamed, without proof or validation, that Russia hacked the 2016 elections, they were working with President Trump to help him get elected, and they spent a solid two years on an “investigation” that found, as is almost always true with Democrats, the Democrats were doing exactly what they alleged Trump was doing – allying with Russians, paying for disinformation, spying on their political opponents, weaponizing government agencies and then lying about it all.
Given Biden’s history, if you agree with him on anything, you better start questioning your assumptions because almost always, the right decision can be found one hundred eighty degrees from Biden’s position.
But you really must ask yourself, just why are so many on the same side with Biden? Why is there such unified hatred for Putin and Russia and not Xi and China?
Is it because game recognizes game? Is it because the Russians know the Democrats because they share so many criminal commonalities? Is it because there is more opportunity for graft and grift in China than there is in Russia these days? Do the Chinese commies just pay better? Maybe Hunter and the “Big Guy” want to get their Ukrainian gravy train back on the tracks.
Or is it just personal?
Victoria Nuland and the same State Department actors who engineered the overthrow of the Russia-aligned Ukrainian president back in 2013/2014 have failed themselves back into power and are pushing the idea of war with Russia.
In the words of my granddaddy, “Something just ain’t right.”
Look at the scoreboard on China v. Russia:
China has nukes just like Russia.
China has a far larger standing army than Russia.
China and Russia both have a long history of espionage against the US – the difference being we save China a lot of time, money, and effort on this by just giving them information willingly and we make the Russians work for it.
China is a communist state with no history of protecting human rights – so does Russia.
China controls their society through the use of hard power (people just disappear) and soft power (social credit scores), Putin just disappears them.
China has no problems with shipping dissidents (or entire ethnic populations) off to “reeducation” camps. Gulag, anyone? Anyone?
China seeks territorial expansion and hegemony (Taiwan, Nepal), Russia has reabsorbed Georgia, Crimea and now wants Ukraine.
Russia's GDP is a fraction of that of the US, China is virtually an equal.
You really have to ask why the focus is on Putin’s Russia when Xi’s China is far more dangerous. Russia seems barely project power in a regional conflict – China can go global in a heartbeat. They have the money, the military, enough stolen US technology and most of all, the complete lack of respect for human life.
However bad you think Stalin and the old USSR was, Xi’s Maoist China is exponentially worse.
So why do Democrats and neocons want to get into a hot war with Russia on the one hand and on the other, just climb into bed with China for a little snuggle session?
Or is it a struggle session?
I'm looking at you Disney.
Old Walt is spinning in his grave. The Mouse has gone Mao.
Sure, Putin’s Russia is bad and what they have done in Ukraine is a travesty that must be stopped.
But when the case is being made in the US, the appeal is almost exclusively emotional – the Russians are bombing maternity hospitals, shooting non-combatants in the street, striking civilian targets, bombing Holocaust memorials – which they are, but there is almost no legitimate case being made for why Ukraine has been deemed a strategic necessity for the US, the EU or NATO.
Every network, including Fox News, has gone full Dr. Phil with Zelensky on the stool as the battered wife and Putin in the green room as the abusive partner.
I feel bad to have this opinion, but all this feels like one of those scripted “reality” shows. We even have ridiculous plot twists: Russia negotiating with Iran on behalf of the US, Biden going to our enemies to beg for oil when we have it, Democrats and the GOP appropriating money for Ukrainian border defense while our own border is overrun, Romney being touted as the “only” Republican who can beat the Corpse-in-Chief.
You must admit it is all just a little too much.
Something just ain’t right.
Viscerally, I know there is real human suffering, but this sure appears to be a made-for-TV event with the Dudley Do-Right and Snidely Whiplash characters pulled straight out of central casting. Putin is the stereotypical villain doing the stereotypical villainess things - and we are just supposed to hiss and boo on reflex.
But just because Putin presents a threat, it doesn’t mean Russia a direct threat to the US or is the ONLY threat. If you think Xi isn’t watching all this with great interest - and if he is holding the purse strings as is reported - and pulling Putin’s strings, you know nothing about how China has manipulated the Western world for decades.
For goodness sakes, before you support sending any American soldiers and assets into yet another war, start asking some questions and demanding answers that make sense.
If we are going to get into yet another war, and one that might go global, we have a right to both ask and to know.
I’m for going all the way if necessary - but we better understand that this isn’t Afghanistan, there is nowhere to evacuate. If we are in, we need to understand that means we are ALL the way in.

China is probably not going to move on Taiwan. They are encouraging Russia to take Ukraine because they want Siberia back. Russia has some severe problems; the life expectancy of Russian males is 67, the birth rate is 9 per 1,000 while the death rate is 17 per 1,000. At 6.7 million square miles it is almost twice the size of America with less than half of the population. They only have 144 million citizens. They can't hold their land. Demographically they are doomed.
