Restoring Faith In American Elections Ain't Rocket Surgery
Just vote in person, use paper ballots, verify identity at the time of voting, require a valid reason for absentee ballots, and count the votes in the full view of the public.
For almost three years, we have continued to receive mail at our address for the former owners, who were an older couple, one of which was deceased before we bought the property and the other is currently in a care home for dementia.
I wondered to myself, what the percentage of undelivered or wrongly delivered USPS mail really is - is it a percent, two percent - higher or lower? I thought a couple of percent would be a reasonable number for a letter, package or parcel that slipped through the cracks in a system that, according to the USPS Inspector General's report in 2022, handled 129 billion mail pieces on more than 233,171 routes in fiscal year (FY) 2021.
But the truth is that the 2022 IG report says:
"The Postal Service has tools, including Delivery Condition Visualization, Non-Delivery Survey, Mail Rotation Dashboard, and a Daily Triangulation Report, that identify delayed mail on delivery routes; however, these tools do not identify the number of undelivered and partially delivered routes nationally. Further, the Postal Service’s National Delivery Intelligence tool, which identifies assumed undelivered routes, does not provide the actual number of undelivered routes. These tools are limited due to technology constraints and reliance on the manual recording of delayed mail by delivery unit management, which is often underreported. As a result, the actual number of undelivered and partially delivered routes is unknown."
So, in plain English, the OIG is saying "we don't know how much mail never gets delivered, delivered to the wrong address, or simply gets lost".
I did see a quote from a former USPS career employee that internal statistics put the number at around 4.6%.
So, kids. What important mail event happened in 2020?
Can you say mail out ballots for the presidential election?
I knew you could.
In 2005, the Commission on Federal Election Reform, co-chaired by former Jimmy Carter and James A. Baker III, noted among its many findings and recommendations that because it takes place outside the regulated environment of local polling locations, voting by mail creates increased logistical challenges and the potential for vote fraud, especially if safeguards are lacking or when candidates or political party activists are allowed to handle mail-in or absentee ballots.
And yet, in May of 2020, President Jimmuh recommended vote by mail, saying:
“I urge political leaders across the country to take immediate steps to expand vote-by-mail and other measures that can help protect the core of American democracy – the right of our citizens to vote.”
Let me translate:
"Because Trump."
But setting aside Jimmuh's entirely non-partisan change of heart, none of these examinations address the cause of concern for many conservatives, that being the mass mailing of ballots to unverified addresses, especially in states that had never used vote by mail for state level elections, thereby putting ballots in the hands of organizations (via ballot harvesting) and people with ill intent - because democracy is at risk, you see.
I see two glaring weaknesses here - first and foremost, if you vote by mail, it seems there is at least a 4.6% chance you don't receive your ballot, or it doesn't make it back to the proper address. Secondly, your vote can be cancelled by some community organizing activist who decides his role is to prevent white supremacists from killing democracy in darkness or some such bilge.
But they assure you that 2020 was the most secure election in the history of elections, providing no actual data to prove it, just their strongly held beliefs.
In a discussion about censorship on another forum, I noted:
"The fact is that there is literally no electronic medium that can't be hacked, blocked or censored. At their root, each platform is as vulnerable and corruptible as the people who control it. It's simply too easy to flip a switch, tweak an algorithm or ban someone when the pressure to do so is on.
The only true free speech is face to face when the speaker is only responsible for what he says, not what people hear (or hear about what he said)."
The same goes for mail-in/mail out voting.
There are currently 18 states and the District of Columbia that will count ballots that are received up to a week AFTER the physical polls close, even if they are postmarked AFTER election day as a way to overcome the issues with the USPS. There are states that have turned down or completely eliminated signature verification, some accepting ballots with no signature at all.
The only cures for this kind of chicanery on the part of Democrat "democracy" advocates, the USPS and Democrat dominated election boards who count the votes is to require people to vote in person, use paper ballots, verify identity at the time of voting, require a valid reason for absentee voting, and count the votes in the full view of the public.
It ain't rocket surgery.
It's common sense.
Even during the absurdity of the election of 2000, nobody thought it was a good idea to just open up the system for fraud and vote stealing - the Democrats figured that out after and when the pandemic provided an excuse, faster than you can say "titty twister", the game was afoot, my dear Watson.
This is the only way to restore confidence in our electoral processes.
“… protect the core of American democracy …” he spelled it wrong. Democrat-cy is what they are protecting, not democracy.
"Rocket Surgery" Do the Dimocrats have all those tools?
