Perpetual Rush Week at Biden U.
If Biden's cabinet “looks like America”, then the America the Democrats see is very, very stupid, and not at all good at their jobs.
I'm supposed to be taking a little break from writing but given I will soon be in a tryptophan induced coma and occupied with pie and the Ole Miss -Mississippi State game later today, that break is going to take care of itself.
But I can't ignore the obvious.
I pretty much was away from news and politics yesterday, but last night I saw the clip of our brilliant Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, displaying her ignorance of America's demand for hydrocarbons.
Holy hydraulic fracturing, Batman!
I have an admission to make, I've always thought Jenny was kinda cute in that naïve, first-time drunk, freshman sorority chick sort of way, and I'm pretty sure she was as lit as a Roman candle when she gave her speech at the 2012 DNC. She gives off a “I’m a lot of fun at parties!” vibe, even at the age of 62.
Sorority Jenn and I are also contemporaries, having been born within twelve days of each other in 1959. I must note she is holding up a hell of a lot better than I am, but maybe I just have a thing for Canadian born/California grown wanna be actress women (Jenn was born in Vancouver and grew up in California, appearing on the Dating Game in 1978).
But where it seems that where my knowledge has increased over my life, hers has seemed to be stuck on what she knew when she was a freshman at UC Berkeley in 1980. She appears to know next to nothing about the job she was confirmed to do, and I don't know who should be more embarrassed about that - the administration that nominated her or the Senate that confirmed her.
If I had been embarrassed by laughing off a question about high gas prices and claimed OPEC controlled global oil prices after the US being the world’s leading oil exporter less than a year ago, I might have dug into the numbers a bit (or had my staff do it). I guess Sorority Jenn had too much to do to bother.
I guess I need to cut Secretary Sorority Jenn some slack, she isn’t alone in that position.
Psaki, Harris, Blinken, Buttigieg, Mayorkas, Haaland, Raimondo, Fudge, Becerra, Cardonas – all are so out of their depth, the aren’t even in the pool, but at least they are not as malicious in their distaste of America as people like the UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield and our Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin.
The rest are managing to stay under the radar, and either that means they are marginally competent or the departments they head are not needed anyway. Thankfully they have not been so incompetent to make the news, but there is still a lot of time on the clock.
This is what happens when you select your cabinet based on identity politics and the most important objective is to check certain boxes to maintain a quota and you aren’t really that concerned about competence. Most people have enough self-awareness and self-respect to decline an appointment to a job they literally know nothing about, but not these intrepid incompetents – they are either to stupid to know they aren’t qualified (Dunning-Krueger), or they want the positions so bad, they are willing to be used as puppets to secure a mention in the history books.
I sort of understand, cabinet appointments are more rare than making into the NBA, about on par with winning multiple major golf tournaments, so I see the attraction. Better to be famous for a few years than be good at you job.
I mean, YOLO, right?
If this is a cabinet that “looks like America”, then the America the Democrats see is very, very stupid, and not at all good at their jobs.
Sort of explains why they think we need to Build Back Bolshevik.
Unfortunately for them, like pretty much everything else they believe, those are falsehoods. Americans are not stupid, incompetent or bad at their jobs.
People are comparing the Biden years (and although it seems like years, it hasn’t even been a year yet), to the hapless Carter years. While they share the same sort of accidental presidencies (Carter was a reaction to the Nixon years, Biden a reaction to President Trump), their cabinets are quite different. Carter’s cabinet was competent but wrong, Biden’s is incompetent and wrong.
Clearly, the latter is proving the worst.
I keep thinking about what Tucker Carlson said – America is the best country to ever be run by the worst people. We can only hope that the reaction to the Biden administration leads to a couple of decades of competent, rational leadership. Carter was followed by eight years of Reagan, four of Bush I and eight more of Clinton, who essentially governed as a Republican under a Democrat label – and then eight years of Bush II – essentially yielding twenty-eight years of relative sanity before the ‘fundamental transformation” of the reign of King Barackus began in 2008.
I think Trump may run again. Maybe pick DeSantis as VP. I would bet that is a twelve-year ticket. I believe the GOP is in a good position to make a two decade plus run – but I also know they legitimately earned the title of the Stupid Party by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory many times in the past.
But first we must survive three more years of rush at Biden University.
Excellent piece once again! Have a Happy Thanksgiving Michael!
Happy Thanksgiving, Michael!! I am grateful for you and your musings!!
