I woke up this morning with these lyrics from Panic! at the Disco’s song “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” in my head and began to think about how the Democrats are futilely trying to make it look as if their election wedding is just fine and their policies aren’t a whorish problem:
Oh, well, imagine
As I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor
And I can't help but to hear
No, I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words
"What a beautiful wedding!
What a beautiful wedding!”, says a bridesmaid to a waiter
"And yes, but what a shame, what a shame
The poor groom's bride is a whore"
Yep. What a shame for the Democrats.
It took a bit, but three weeks from the elections, Democrats are beginning to wake up and smell the mid-term coffee.
Their panic and fear is palpable. One might say it is delicious!
In just the past four or five days, I have heard these items of campaign messaging informing us the Democrats know they are losing, and losing big:
About that thing we said - we didn’t say it, it was the Republicans (defund the police).
That thing we did, we didn’t do it (massive, wasteful spending, lockdowns, mask mandates, mandatory vaccination).
That thing you saw, you didn’t see it (“mostly peaceful” ANTIFA/BLM riots).
That thing you didn’t hear, we heard it (President Trump inciting the J6 riot).
Those things we support, we don’t support them (transgender ideology, Queer Theory, CRT and Drag Queen Story Hour).
When we called parents domestic terrorists, we just meant they were wrong to out our policies in public (parents voicing opposition to radical school boards).
Crime? What crime? Rising crime is a Republican racist conspiracy theory and it’s really their fault for defunding the police in cities run by Democrats anyway.
Even though the increase in crime is a GOP conspiracy theory, the crime rates are 40% higher in MAGA states than in Biden states (as long as you ignore the rise in crime is due to major cities and urban areas that have been governed by Democrat mayors and DA’s for decades).
It’s not our policies that are failing, it is just that our messaging is bad (the economy).
Every problem is worse because Republicans noticed the problem we created (illegal immigration).
If you don’t elect us, it is going to be soooo much worse (inflation).
If you vote for your choice and it ain’t us, democracy is dead (UltraMAGA grandmothers are bad).
If you don’t vote for us, there will be civil war (because we treated our opponents like fecal matter, how could there not be retribution?).
If you won’t vote for a mentally compromised candidate, the problem is really you, you ableist creep (Fetterman).
It isn’t white supremacy that is the problem, it is “lite” supremacy (POCs not supporting the racist, failing Democrat agenda).
These are not things a winning political party says – and they know it – but they have nothing else. They have tried to run a fear campaign against a president who has been out of office for two years. What scares them the most is the stark difference between the Trump years and the Biden years is so close in chronology, people are can make a direct comparison between the two. No propagandizing can wash away what people can see for themselves.
America is worse off economically, engaged in a proxy war with a nuclear power that is costing billions and billions of dollars, the border is wide open, violent and property crime is on the rise while prosecutions are on the decline, energy production is down so much Biden is going hat in hand to Saudi Arabia and Venezuela so he doesn’t have to admit the war of fossil fuels was a bad idea, and far from America being respected in the world, we have become one of those Bozo the Clown inflatable punching bags from the Sears Christmas catalog.
None of this can be spun as successful or good for America.
It’s uniformly bad. For everybody, including the illegal aliens.
They are probably right about one thing, it is going to get worse because the prescription for what ails us is some immediate restraint and austerity in government, and as it always is, when you are getting someone off an addiction, the withdrawal symptoms are often bad.
And that is what this is. Just as sure as people are addicted to fentanyl coming across the open border, since the “pandemic” began, the Democrats have been working to get people addicted to government support – and with a large swath of people, they were successful.
Whoever has the stones to turn it around will be blamed for the pain, that much is clear.
If you are a Republican, what you must understand is that you are going to be blamed either way, so you might as well buckle up and get it done.
But we should never allow people to forget which party put America in this ditch and then lied about it.
And the people who vote for Republicans should never be allowed to forget why we sent them there and what we sent them to do.
Solid post. Right up until the conclusion. Mr. Smith is apparently an eternal optimist, believing that federal elections can significantly change anything in dc. DC is a criminal hq. The people who go to dc, R or D, have mainly been vetted by the Uniparty machine, so no change possible. The few patriotic people who manage to get nominated and miracle elected cannot do any, real good in dc. Too few and powerless against the powerful factions that actually control the government.
We really need to face up to the fact that America is a criminal oligarchy, not a republic. The only solution will be a collapse and reconstitution of government entirely. The current scheme is hopelessly corrupted.
If Americans had the guts we'd call for national strikes, work stoppages, civil disobedience until tbe federal government resigned en masse. DC has to be abolished. Until then we're on a steady road to perdition.
The Dems have two campaign themes: abortion and J6. Unfortunately, independent voters don't rank these "issues" compared to historic inflation, crippling gas prices, runaway crime and their tanking 401k. Add to that now: the value of their home is falling as interest rates take the heat out of the housing market.
