Never Mind
Literally and figuratively, everything the Democrats and the contemporary left says is a lie.
As I listened to President Biden disingenuous speech last night, the only thought running through my mind was this:
What the hell is wrong with these people?
On Twitter/X after the speech, there was an orgy of delusion that rivaled that captured in those old newsreels of Adolph Hitler’s speeches. The Democrats praised Biden for being vital, strong and a moral paragon.
Unfortunately, like Hitler, literally everything the contemporary left says and believes is a lie. At some level, they know that and just don’t care – because none of this is about the truth, it is about their preferred narrative.
It has come to the point that nothing – and I mean nothing - a Democrat or their allies in the media - say or write can be trusted. Their identify is exemplified in the famous quote author Mary McCarthy issued about left wing playwright, Lillian Hellman, live on the Dick Cavett show in 1979:
“Every word she writes is a lie, including and and the.”
While most of us do not live in a post-truth world, the left sure as hell does.
They feel empowered to say and believe literally anything, now matter how completely it is contradicted by the truth and the facts on the ground – and even when that contradiction is incontrovertible, they just swallow it and move to another lie, then point to the people telling the truth and call them liars.
Comedic star Gilda Radner, one of the original Not Ready for Prime Time Players that formed the cast of the original Saturday Night Live, originated the character of Emily Litella.
Litella would peer through her reading glasses and, in the character's high-pitched, warbly voice, would read a prepared statement in opposition to a current editorial that the TV station had supposedly broadcast. She would become increasingly agitated as her statement progressed and soon it became apparent that Litella had taken the editorial in completely the wrong way the. A typical example:
“What is all this fuss I hear about the Supreme Court decision on a "deaf" penalty? It's terrible! Deaf people have enough problems as it is!”
Chevy Chase, playing the news anchor, would interrupt Litella to point out her error, along the lines, "That's death penalty, Ms. Litella, not deaf ... death."
Litella would wrinkle her nose, say something like, "Oh, that's very different," then meekly turn to the camera and say, smiling, "Never mind!" moving on as if those simply words completely washed away how misdirected she was.
Of course, this was comedy. Her tangents were designed to be so ridiculous the audience, being of sound mind, could see the obvious humor in Emily’s righteous arguments even as she completely misunderstood the situation.
I would call the left the “Emily Litella Cabal”, but there are significant differences. Where Emily was truthful in her responses but unintentionally mistaken in her conception of the situation, the contemporary left in America and elsewhere are intentional in their false construction of events and are most certainly dishonest in their responses.
The Hamas attack of October 7th kicked off outrage across the leftist landscape, not at Hamas but at Israel, seemingly not just for defending themselves but for not just letting Hamas kill them.
The alleged Gaza Hospital bombing was the New York Times’ and Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib’s Litella moment.
Both ran out immediately to parrot the Hamas claim that the IDF targeted the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, and that the hospital was destroyed, killing over 500 innocent patients. Within 24 hours, it became evident the facts contradicted that story and that it was an errant rocket fired by Islamic Jihad from a base in Gaza that crashed into the hospital parking lot and exploded leaving, as an intel report concluded, “only light structural damage at the hospital” and killing an estimated 100 – 150 people.
The Times did the “Receding Homer” trick, quietly disappearing into the shrubbery without admitting they were completely wrong. Tlaib just runs from questions about her inflammatory statements about the hospital incident and in fact, doubles down by continuing to use the event as a flash point to stir contention in her supporters.
The point of all of this is that these people know they are wrong, but it doesn’t matter because their goal is not the truth, it is to inflame anti-Israel and anti-American radicalism. To achieve their goals, they tell the radicals what they want to hear, even if it is a lie, because they know the radicals don’t care about truth and facts, they just want an excuse to destroy.
These are people impervious to the truth, and serial liars like Tlaib and Ilhan Omar know that, and they do it anyway, making themselves not only enemies of Israel and America, but of civilization itself.
I like your comment about 'preferred narrative'. It's been our Govt SOP since at least Roswell if not longer. The only concern here is that the Left have made it a skill set of theirs. Lie, Lie and more Lies until the people surrender.
Preferably I'd love for the right to grow a pair, get a spine, and remove that proverbial yellow streak down their backs, but like the left they too have made this their own skill set.
You are so correct in saying that the Left just does not care about the truth. They have one thing - their agenda, and nothing appears to be stopping them - especially the weak Right in office.
My 2 cents.
Instead of paying any attention to B*d*n I took a nap and watched "The Mentalist." I knew beforehand that everything the so called president of the United States would say would be a lie. Everything that comes from a lying sack of sh*t is always a lie so every time some outfit presents his image I silence it or turn it off.
