Keep an eye on Gutfeld. He's even funny on The Five when Jessica Tarlov is not there. When she is there he finds the need to explain to her how stupid she is. "The Penguin Lessons" is worth the time to watch it as is a few episodes of "Almost Paradise." You may be able to find some Carlin clips that show ways to be funny/serious simultaneously.

Decades ago we had conservative (Christian) scolds who, we were told, were "terrified anybody anywhere is having fun." And yet, all those decades ago, we had fun - we laughed, we joked and we didn't take ourselves too seriously. Even us conservatives. To the extent humor, or "fun", has been drained from our culture today, it is a result of precisely as you describe. A self-selected band of culture warriors has declared war on well, pretty much everybody, everywhere, all the time.

“When humor goes, there goes civilization.” —ERMA BOMBECK

I think the world's funniest housewife hit it on the head with that quote.

Also, this was one of your best articles ever. Today's lesson is one everyone should read again every day.

We need a little humor, so

A farmer goes to see the vet about his sick mule. The vet listens to the symptoms and gives the farmer a bottle of capsules.

The farmer goes home, takes the bottle to where the mule is, and walks all the way around the mule, looking at it closely. He stops, then does the walk around again. He walks around, looking closely a third time. Then he walks up to the mule face to face, reads the directions on the bottle one more time, then says, "Mule, I'm going to walk around you one more time, and if I can't find your rectum, I'm going to start sticking these things up your ass."

At least the Left is providing sane people having a sense of humor with an abundance of material to which comedy can be applied...

Here's a few I count in the business of funny:

Leann Morgan,

Don McMillan (married engineer comedy),

Jeff Dunham, ventriloquist who has politically incorrect characters.

Dictatortots: Oopsiepoopsies of Authoritarianism

Picture it. A swollen toddler in a tailored suit, cheeks wet with spit and rage, pounding the floor with tiny fists. The crowd claps. The cameras flash. The tantrum is law.

Now imagine that tantrum armed with teeth, barbed wire, and an army.

Voilà: a Dictatortot.

I set out on my own and my family moved to Tucson. In June, 1970, my 20 year old, opinionated self went to visit. Trying to couch my verdict that they had moved to hell, I attempted to respond when asked what I thought of the place. 'Well, outside of the abandoned Pee Wee golf courses and fading ten-foot plastic Bob's Big-boys, it has its appeal'. My mother's response hit me like a rock hammer, "Well, haven't you become a dark cloud." I haven't been the same since. By the way, I have been living here the past 40 years and love it.
