Logic or Violence
Decades of progressive Democrat maneuverings have left us in a place where those are the only two options.
The federal government took in record amounts of taxes - again. In April it was reported tax receipts for the prior six months exceeded $2.1 trillion.
It was just reported that the taxman set a monthly record in July with collection of $563 billion.
But that isn't enough for the Democrats, who just voted to increase taxation even more while spending continues to spiral out of control.
An open border and welfare and legal aid to illegal aliens.
More Solyndra-like funding because that worked so well the first time around.
Handouts to Ukraine.
88,000 new IRS agents - after the Democrats refused to entertain an amendment that would prevent those agents from focusing on audits of individuals and small businesses with income of less than $400,000.
The first American revolution was not about tea, it was about TAXES on tea.
The second revolution will be about taxes as well.
My high school basketball coach told us that we were never to complain about a close loss or a bad call by the referees because our job was to make sure it wasn't close enough to lose or to be influenced by a bad call.
That's the message that the GOP needs to hear. Just look how the Democrats act every time they have a close leadership in Congress - nothing stops them from ramming through economy wrecking legislation by using the vote of the VP to put it across the line. It doesn't matter to them that half of the body is against it, theoretically meaning half of the country is also against it.
Nothing gets in the way of their agenda.
If only the GOP was as determined to dismantle the institutions and repeal the laws and regulations that enable Democrats to get away with such.
I was reading my former local paper, the Park Record, in which a columnist related her property taxes skyrocketed this year, but you know, she is OK with paying a little more so people can get free flu shots at the grocery store - but the amazing thing was her reasoning for the drop of our high school ranking from #1 in the state to #21 (and 20 years ago, it ranked in the top ten in the nation).
Her reasoning?
The district's lax enforcement of the mask mandate.
Teachers leaving because they fear retribution for trying to make it "better" (it is actually conservative leaning teachers leaving).
Flagrant displays of racism and antisemitism (from leftist students and instructors).
Failures to report child abuse (from an administration supportive of sexual deviancy in children).
A botched construction project - no permits and code violations.
Let me just point out that this is in a city where progressive Democrats are in full control of all the institutions, including the school systems. They fully support transgenderism and the LGBTQ agenda, BLM, Democrat candidates and CRT. The high school administration supported walkouts and protests for community support for transgender students.
Just for the record, about half of Park City's property tax goes to the schools through a special levy.
None of this happened until the mission of the school system shifted from actual education to social activism. The high school was #1 when the focus was the former.
Again, as this columnist exhibits, nothing gets in the way of the agenda, even reality. The trend that caused the ranking to fall is entirely reversible, but the progressives in town can't even see the problem.
Infecting the school system with their ideology and theology has caused the downfall of the very expensive school system and now they want to blame forces outside the town.
To admit this problem means they must admit their ideology is to blame - and they will never do that - they have been doubling down for two decades and show no signs that will stop. They will just continue to blame parents who fight back at school board meetings and gather in local homes to organize opposition.
They ignore the letters to the editor from people who are noting that their property taxes are now equal to or in some cases, exceed, their mortgage payments.
To paraphrase Herb Stein, if something cannot go on forever, it will stop.
By hook or crook, this too will stop - by logic or by violence. Progressive Democrat maneuverings have left us in a place where those are the only two options.
