Hard, Far Right UltraMAGA Ultraconservative Racist Extremists
90% of Democrat Hakeem Jeffries' vocabulary is contained in the above headline
The Democrats and their media allies are stuck on a few specific terms of endearment for Republicans.
Some focus group somewhere – probably meeting in a dark conference room in the bowels of some Manhattan or DC office building, watched by a cabal of Democrat message meisters from behind a two way mirror – has told the Democrats that the acronym MAGA (used as both a noun and an adjective), the modifier “ultra” (especially powerful when combined with MAGA – as in Ultra MAGA), and the words “extreme” or “extremist” conveys how dangerous the GOP is and how they just want to choke democracy to death (in darkness, of course).
Problem is that everything the GOP (or conservatives) say or do is assigned one of those terms.
Fight taxpayer funded abortions in the military – you are not only conservative, but you are ultraconservative.
Oppose age-inappropriate literature for elementary school kids – you are an extremist.
Oppose “gender affirming care” for minors or teachers “helping” a student “transition” without telling their parents – you are a MAGA extremist.
Of course, if you tick all these boxes, you are “hard” or “far” right, simply for expressing things that would have been common sense a decade ago – hell, let’s be honest, it would have been common sense five years ago.
None of this precludes the usage of the old standbys, racist or racism, as the blowback from the recent opposition to the SCOTUS decision on race-based admission criteria in colleges proves.
Democrats are so steeped in this messaging (and that is what it is because it is baseless) that some of them - like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries - can’t seem to put a sentence together without using the words “MAGA” or “extremist”. About Republican efforts to rip out the “woke” provisions in the recent Defense bill, Hakeem noted:
“Extreme MAGA Republicans have hijacked a bipartisan bill that is essential to our national security and taken it over and weaponized it in order to jam their extreme right-wing ideology down the throats of the American people.”
So, one wonders, what would truly extreme behavior look like?
Could it perhaps appear as:
Law enforcement arresting parents for letting their kids play outside.
Threatening a parent with jail time for opposing his ex-wife “transitioning” their son from male to female.
How about having the DOJ target Catholics for opposing abortion and PTA parents for raising real issues with school boards – even to the point of the White House assisting the National School Boards Association crafting a letter leading to concerned parents being tagged as “domestic terrorists”.
Jailing people for “trespassing” or “parading” for simply entering the Capitol building during a protest turned violent.
Making “misgendering” (failure to use preferred pronouns) a felony punishable by prison time or a $10,000 fine.
Shouting down speakers, accosting people in restaurants, and cancelling their careers because you disagree with them.
How about surveilling a presidential candidate, investigating a sitting president for two years based on false information, and cooking up two impeachment efforts based on nothing?
Perhaps the most egregious examples of extremism would be taking to the streets, occupying parts of city downtowns then claiming them as “autonomous zones”, looting stores while calling it “reparations”, attacking police stations and federal buildings, overturning police cars, tossing Molotov cocktails in police vans, burning private businesses to the ground - one of them with the owner in it, shooting counter-protesters in the head (happened in Seattle), deifying a serial drug abusing career criminal who died in police custody with enough fentanyl in his system to kill a draft horse, and then saying that everybody has to stay isolated from their families and jobs except the protestors because racism is a greater public health threat than Covid-19.
If those sound extreme, that’s just because they are – but you will never hear the media report it that way.
Democrats are the extremists, proven in their words and deeds.
Calling them out on such things doesn’t work because you cannot shame the shameless.
Great article Michael. It contrasts nicely with one that came up as recommended to me by Substack, called something like Letters from an American. The woman who does that one has lots of subscribers and was seriously talking about the planned Trump tyranny if he wins 2024. The self blindness of these people is phenomenal. They are like jihadis who talk about Islamophobia. The fact that they have already created a tyranny themselves doesn’t register with them at all.
Michael Smith - this is one of the writings that has to go wide and far. Not to generate 'mean' responses, but to generate dialogue amongst us all. We all have to come together and see what is happening and acknowledge it.
This is important conversation material regardless of Left or Right leaning.
