Franz Kafka Has Entered the Chat
Yes, prosecuting former President Trump is crazy, but crazy is so hot right now.
Will the upcoming trials help or hurt former President Trump?
Without question, the former president has seen upticks in support with each indictment, but will that translate to support for the GOP nomination and votes in the general election in 2024?
Seems to me, it is an open question at this point.
Of course, those who are opposed to him – Republicans and Democrats alike – believe they are the key to keeping him out of the White House. The game the Biden administration (aka the “Regime”) is playing is less about convicting Trump and more about wounding him just enough through suspicion, rumor, and innuendo so he can’t win.
Recent polls seem to reflect a public sentiment that Trump needs to be tried for his “crimes”.
But I think a lot of the polls merely reflect the success of Democrat propaganda (MAGA extremist fascist white supremacists are attacking democracy), people considering the sheer volume of charges (there are so many, he must be guilty of something, right?), and the constant negative media coverage (everything Trump gets the front page, Biden using an alias for 5400 emails barely rates a mention) rather than what really happened.
I also think the entire persecution/prosecution of the J6 protesters was gigantic battlespace prep for this very moment in time. It drove into the public the idea that all these people were violent revolutionaries waving guns and flags, led by a tri-corner hat wearing Trump as he was rowed across the Potomac in a wooden boat while wrapped in an American flag. Democrats believe this to their core, even though most “offenders” were charged with minor crimes like trespassing and “parading”.
A friend of mine, a former political science professor, noted that in his class, he would show his political science students the interrogation scenes from both “The Lives of Others” and “Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace” and then ask them how these procedures differed from typical US criminal law procedure. He said:
“…too often this question was met with a wall of silence, as if this were the ever insidious “trick question.” The most blatant difference, of course, is that before those inquisitors you were never told of the charges against you, only asked to confess your sins. In each case when the accused asked why they were being interrogated to which the response was something like, “Do you suppose our benevolent, humanitarian State would have arrested you for no reason at all? To think this would itself be a crime.”
I must note all of this constitutes the process being used against those out of favor with the Regime. Most readers know that I worked in a firearms manufacturer as their VP of Research and Development a while back and I can tell you that DOD, ATF and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) not only prohibit the employment of foreign nationals, even if they hold green cards, they also do not allow any foreign visitors in the production areas of the facility. You must be a US citizen to work there. Even the flow and security of information to partners is controlled by the State or Commerce Department, depending on what it is). Several years ago, I was President and CEO of a company what owned patents for and produced a diving system that also had military use. ITAR applied. Rocket technology is subject to the same regulations, so I can tell you that Elon Musk is right, his company is being sued for not doing things he is prohibited from doing by the very government that is suing him.
But it doesn’t matter because the DOJ knows what they are doing is wrong and it will eventually be dismissed or overturned on appeal. They don’t care because they know they can find a favorable grand jury to indict and Musk, like Trump, will be forced defend themselves in court for months or years until a final resolution is attained - and that takes time and money. Of course, it is an abuse of the judicial system, but given the status of the courts, who will stop it before it must be stopped at the Supreme Court?
You guessed it – nobody. There is nothing to stop them from doing it.
I think how this goes for the former President depends on how Kafkaesque the trials appear. I have full confidence Fani Willis and Alvin Bragg will deliver supersized hot tubs of Kafka. Alvin Bragg’s indictment couldn’t even name the law that was broken and when questioned, he said he wasn’t obligated to tell the accused what law they broke. Fani Willis wanted to start a RICO prosecution of 19 defendants in October of this year – and she doesn’t want the judge to allow separate trials! Legitimate RICO prosecutions are complex enough to take years to resolve, so her “speedy trial” push is clearly meant to interfere with the 2024 election.
In both cases, Trump is living the life of Kafka’s Josef K., not even sure of what is being charged.
What Jack Smith will deliver, I'm not sure. I do know that even though Fani Willis’ “speedy trial” gambit didn’t pass muster, DC Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is handing one of Smith’s prosecutions, is perfectly comfortable having a politicized trial smack in the middle of election season. I have every confidence that anything that Smith can make stick even a little will be overturned by SCOTUS later, but by that time ole Jack will have served his purpose of rolling Trump around in the hog wallow and coating him with pig shite and urine saturated mud.
The mud and shite can be washed off, but it takes time, and that clock is ticking louder with each minute.
That is what the Regime is counting on. The people who will always believe the former president is innocent will never change their minds, those who think he is guilty likewise, but those in the middle will be forced to decide one way or the other.
That, to me, is a coin flip at best.
What I am hearing is the Harry Reid approach on steroids. Of course I lied, but Romney didn't win did he! Reid was a filthy liar and the uninformed believed him. Their ignorance turned into votes against Romney. The Dem plan worked. Now they are ramping it up, and why, because they can. As you said Michael - who is going to stop them? We know it will be SCOTUS, but not for months/years to come.
There is no wonder that the common person, the deplorables, the Peon servants to the so-called Elite are getting more fed up with this crap! I hope it turns into votes for Trump and totally backfires on the lying scumbag Dems!
I agree. The point isn’t to prove he committed a crime. The process is the point, to cause him to spend time and money on a spurious allegation and take time to raise many questions to potential voters.
