Just a thought that just coalesced in my little pea brain.
The march of true progress, not the “progressivism” type of course, but real, true progress that benefits mankind, has a lot to do with the reduction and defeat of basic human fear.
If you think of progress in these terms, you can see a parallel between the elimination of fear from such things as disease, war, crime, economic collapse, and many other totally rational fears and the increase in personal freedom.
It stands to reason, if your life isn’t consumed by behaviors based on avoiding fear, it frees up more of your life to live as you wish. Defeating fears allows humans to appreciate life rather than living in fear of losing it, and that means happiness.
So, if the reduction and elimination of fear correlates with increases in individual freedoms, then the converse would also be true, increasing fear would correlate with reductions in individual freedoms.
Would that not make sense?
Now think about the reactions to the pandemic and why, after all this time, those in power and their allies in the media have insisted on sensationalizing every aspect of this virus and shutting down any bit of information that might not suggest you are going to die a painful and horrible death if you don’t get poked and wear a maxi-pad across your nose and mouth.
And what is the most common fear of pretty much of all humanity?
It is an untimely and unexpected death.
The drive of the hyperbolic propaganda program was to focus not on the very real likelihood that 1) you won’t catch it and 2) if you do, unless you have certain conditions, you are about as likely to die as you are to be struck by lightning but if you don’t do everything the CDC and NIH say you are probably going to DIE!
Well, that stopped working a while ago on logical and reasoning people because they see empirical evidence that was a lie.
But it still works on the irrational. They are willing to give up anything of theirs (and yours) to be free from that government generated fear of death.
When you view it from that perspective, the government and agencies like the CDC and NIH sure look like the domestic terrorists.
Fear is the most destructive emotion we have…it prevents great things from being done, great insights formulated individually and in groups/organizations. It produces such toxic negativity. I remember when I started my business 42 yrs ago, very few friends were supportive. I kept hearing “you have a great job and your giving that up?? You’re crazy, it’ll never work etc, etc…
Fortunately my mom said do it and she gave me Emerson to read: “Do the thing and you shall have the power” I was a fearless 26 year old. Thanks for the reminder.
