The most recent set of jobs numbers seem to indicate Biden's ride on the soft underbelly of President Trump's resilient economy is about over. Watch for a return to the basement for President Joe Dementia.
Not really a surprise - because contemporary communism (masquerading as “progressivism”) attaches itself, remora like, to the belly of capitalism. Neither communism nor remoras are symbiotic, the host gains nothing from either.
Progressivism simply requires a parasitic environment for survival.
Let me preface what follows with this caveat – I understand there are differing philosophical definitions of socialism, Marxism, and communism. Coincidentally, Marx also recognized the differences and noted that his philosophy of Marxism was the bridge between socialism and communism – but for my purposes, I use the terms interchangeably because the annals of history record that all of them end in the same predictable way for the same predictable reasons – tyranny, oppression and totalitarianism.
This morning I was remembering this exchange from Jurassic Park:
Dr. Ian Malcolm: "If I may… Um, I’ll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you’re using here, it didn’t require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn’t earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don’t take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you even knew what you had, you patented it, and packaged it, and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you’re selling it, you wanna sell it. Well…"
John Hammond: "I don’t think you’re giving us our due credit. Our scientists have done things which nobody’s ever done before…"
Dr. Ian Malcolm: "Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should."
Contemporary progressives, similar to the movie geneticists, never bother themselves with the question of “just because we can, should we?” This is why they hate the free market and seek to abrogate it in the same manner and the Jurassic Park scientists flaunted nature and natural law.
I have long posited that modern progressives want just enough of your capitalism to pay for their adventures in socialism - that is the Biden "economic plan" in a nutshell.
The wonderful and tragic aspect of free market capitalism is that it can take a lot of abuse. When an economy has the freedom to change (the concept of “creative destruction” is one mechanism) it can avoid the abrupt corrections and crashes to which a “managed” economy is subject.
A capitalist economy not only is the most effective way to distribute wealth, it is also the best mechanism to manage risk. By taking risk down to the lowest level, to the individual transactions if possible, the risk is mitigated by spreading it over many smaller segments of the economy rather than a larger collective segment.
Centralization of economies also centralizes risks. A downturn doesn’t just affect a region, it hits the entire entity. For example, America’s risks are still quite diversified as compared to those of the EU and in general , after the pandemic nonsense, we are seeing individual states with sound fiscal policies recovering faster than those without.
The only reason progressive Democrats have been able to get away a multitude of stupid macroeconomic decisions over the years is that an economy based on the concepts of capitalism/free enterprise is strong enough to absorb a great deal of abuse without the gears grinding to a halt.
