Don't Look at Us
With collectivists, it is always someone else's (usually the people's) fault.
A common theme I have noticed, one arising from collectivist desires, is when they control government, it is never at fault and never to blame. The blame always seems to fall on the people for not behaving as expected, performing to a government plan, or simply committing treason by not paying “their fair share” (a trope collectivists always trot out when they want to punish a certain class).
Candidate and alleged Vice President Kamala Harris' fixation on "price gouging" and soaking the rich to "fix" an economy we were told for three and a half years had been miraculously repaired by Bidenomics and is now doing smashingly, is a standard example of Democrats blaming outside entities for things their own government actions created.
This woman allegedly has an undergrad degree in political science and economics, so she should know who Milton Friedman and knows that Uncle Miltie said that only government can create inflation because only government has the power to print money. She should also know that every time price freezes have been implemented, they have resulted in higher prices and scarcity.
And yet she wants to attack inflation by even more government spending and dictates to companies what they can charge – in the name of “fairness” and “equity”, of course.
Given that government clearly created this situation through actions that began in 2020, Harris and her proposed “solutions” have about as much credibility as her fellow Californian, OJ Simpson, declaring he was going to find the "real killers" after being acquitted of the murders of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman.
And yet it appears, based on polling, half of voting America seems to agree with Harris’ class warfare and wants her to find the real killer.
Norman Thomas, a lifelong socialist and six-time nominee of the Socialist Party for president, said:
“The difference between Democrats and Republicans is this: Democrats have accepted some ideas of Socialism cheerfully, while Republicans have accepted them reluctantly.”
I can accept the idea that we have a "uniparty", a cabal of elected officials who identify as Republicans and Democrats but are little more than statolatrists - people whom Ludwig Von Mises proposed literally worship government.
At least the conservative side of the GOP will consider that government itself is part of the problem rather than the solution and make attempts to make cuts.
Democrats rarely (approaching never) do this.
Since I became politically aware, I cannot remember a single time the Democrats didn't blame forces outside the government for the results of the government's own actions. About the only thing I have ever heard a Democrat call for are cuts to the defense budget - and today.
But I guess that is par for the course for collectivists who claim that communism has never worked because it has never been implemented “correctly.”
Obama and Biden changed the Democrat Party into red fascists the minute they realized they could get big corporations to help with their agendas. I’ve noticed I don’t hear much about cutting defense spending these days either – as a matter of fact, Joe Biden cited the economic benefits of using aid to Ukraine as an economic stimulator. They used to hate the military-industrial complex, but that has clearly changed – on both sides.
Another quote that is attributed to Thomas is this:
“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
It seems this election will tell us if Comrade Norman was right.

Last year I got into a gun control debate with a friend of a friend on Facebook. This individual stated that "Republicans repealed most of Illinois' gun control laws in the last decade." When I asked him how that was possible, given that this would have required Republicans to hold a majority in both houses of the Illinois legislature, he simply told me that he was done talking with me, and accused me of "ignoring the data." Well, as it turns out, Republicans have not held a majority in either house of the Illinois legislature since 1996. Yet he blames Republicans for repealing gun control laws. Talk about the blame game....
For them facts are a grab-bag of nuggets to choose from - to fit their narratives (objective truth be damned)
