Democratic Backsliding
Are free countries like Canada and America entering a period of regime change toward autocracy?
The USSR had a constitution.
Actually, it had three different constitutions, enforced individually at different times between January of 1924 and the end of December of 1991.
Lot of good it did the citizens.
While the Soviet constitutions of 1936 and 1977 defined a wide range of social rights, the Soviet Union was a dictatorship, and even in the 1970s internal and external critics alike denied the existence of any form of rights there. In reality, the communist government ignored the constitution when it would have hampered them and enforced it when it helped them – not unlike the way the Democrats see America’s Constitution.
There is such a disturbing trend across the world, and it involves leaders of free nations pushing us all closer to communistic existence. Justin Trudeau just noted that Canadian seniors are living in houses that are "too much home" for them. Seems like a throw-away statement until you understand he is working with the Canadian Finance Minister on a new home equity tax, essentially a tax on the unrealized value of Canadian’s homes.
It is just a way for the government to take homes when seniors cannot pay.
The Biden cabal is trying to find a way to tax unrealized gains.
You see the American media not reporting on things, like Biden’s mental state and the true motives of his party, just because “right wing’ sources have reported on them, and we all know that right wing press outlets are problematic because they engage in conspiracy theory and misinformation – except that they do not, and they were not. They were right.
There are thousands of stories that are not reported in the mass media because a conservative outlet or reporter got to them first.
But this perspective goes deeper than just reporting the news.
Conservative ideas are treated as of lesser value than progressive ideas.
I believe the reason the Biden administration has no shame is that the simply believe anything conservative is to be dismissed as pure politics. Exhibit A is how Hunter Biden is now the de facto White House Chief of Staff, controlling access to his father.
Democrats are clearly interested in executing communistic, collectivist policies. They have avowed socialists and former communists (James Clapper) as part of current and past regimes. They think ignoring the SCOTUS is cool if they are in the way of what Democrats want to do. You can even allow illegal aliens to vote even when the Constitution reserves that right only for citizens.
The irony is they tell you that it is the other guy who wants to be a dictator.
The recent manufactured kerfuffle over Heritage’s Project 2025 is yet another example.
If you read it, you learn that it is simply a proposal for a way to implement libertarian leaning conservative policies without the progressive bureaucracy frustrating that implementation – essentially a way to avoid the passive aggressive resistance Trump faced every minute of every day of his first term.
They lie about things like Project 2025. They lie about conservatives being Nazis and fascists, and they lie about their “accomplishments,” all to keep people’s attention directed away from the tyrannical power they are granting themselves.
Trudeau’s Liberal Party is not that different from Biden’s Democrats.
Both are trying to implement an autocracy by stealth while claiming their opposition are the autocrats.

Projection! It should be laughable, too, if the same people who scream "Trump will never leave the White House" weren't backing the guy (or his family, more likely) who refuses to leave the White House.
Sadly Canada has more authoritarian political culture than the United States. Immigration into the thirteen colonies attracted a lot of religious dissidents, second and third sons of gentry who lacked any inheritance, not to mention people escaping from dire economic circumstances - as Hillary would say a lot of “deplorables.” So in 1777 in the process of losing the colonies to those deplorables Britain rethought its immigration policies for what would become Canada: no people with criminal records - no religious dissidents - and NO GUNS. The result has been a population that is much more submissive to government authorities than is true of the U.S. population. In spite of this many Canadians displayed more moral resiliency in the face of Trudeau’s tyranny than ever before.
