Having lived from 1969 to 1974 in the San Francisco Bay Area, I think that you've understated the chaos that Democrats bring on. That was the time of the Berkeley Free Speech Movement and the start of LSD and "if it feels good, do it!" It was also the time of Governor Brown, the elder, which Ronald Reagan clipped. That drive did drive the pendulum rightward but it IMO planted the seeds we now find in our governments and education administrations.
