Best in Show
What do urban dwelling, college-educated white women, the Westminster Dog Show and the American Left have in common?
I need to make an admission.
I generalize.
Especially when it comes to politics, I generalize by lumping everyone on the political left into “The Left” and that is not an accurate characterization. I get upset when “The Left” does that to “The Right” because there is a bell curve spectrum of beliefs on each side. We can argue if that bell curve is skewed or binomial or whatever, but it is a statistical fact that both sides have beliefs distributed within them and in some cases the tails of the two curves overlap.
What I need to do is to try to identify the drivers within both curves and focus on those as we discuss politics.
The problem doing that on “The Right” is that it is hard for me to determine just what segment is driving our policies at present. At one time, the driver was capitalism – and there is a strong tie between economic liberty and individual liberty, and that was a prime driver. Honestly, we once equated free market capitalism with Wall Street and corporations until those two figured out there is profit and protection in government and looked at us, said “Thanks, suckers!” and switched sides. Conservatives and libertarians have tried to direct “The Right” but we seem to continue to slip toward a form of casual, asymmetric populism – and maybe that is the inherent problem with a political movement that just wants people to be left alone.
We don’t really have any proxies we groom and parade around as avatars of what we believe.
In my opinion, that isn’t true on “The Left”. There are any number of proxies and avatars of the left – BLM, ANTIFA, Planned Parenthood, the National Lawyers Guild, the Southern Poverty Law Center, LGBTQ organizations, feminist organizations, cable news, Hollywood and now, the woke corporations and NGOs.
It is logical to look at data from all segments of people who make up the bell curve I mentioned earlier. I also think it is reasonable to conclude that the group that exhibits the most approval of “The Left’s” agenda is most likely to be the one driving the bus, so that sort of explains my fascination with the April NBC poll and subsequent polls that revealed the most vocal and unified segment on “The Left” consists of urban dwelling, college-educated white women.
Poll after poll, this is the group most aligned and supportive of “The Left’s” agenda and even as President Biden’s poll numbers fall across the board with every other demographic, this is the one segment where his approval, against all logic, is increasing.
“The Left” is also the origin of accusations of “toxic masculinity” and the oppressive patriarchy, the support for transgenderism (especially the “transformation” of men into women), the idea that having lots of sex is empowerment, abortion is “healthcare”, the world should be ruled by women because women are rational and never warlike, and it is time for all men to assume their rightful roles as beta males and do what they are told.
Given this, it is reasonable to deduce that the motivating force behind “The Left’s” agenda are these women of “The Left”, especially
I have a mental image of these women, while it may not be entirely accurate, it is at least directionally correct. When I think about this situation, my mind conjures up images of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (which was gloriously lampooned in the movie “Best In Show”).
Seems silly and ridiculous, I know - but there are some stark similarities.
A large percentage of the dog owners are women, a large percentage of the male owners certainly seem beta. There is a lot of femininity and metrosexuality in the pampering, care and grooming of the dogs.
The event is all about image and obedience. The dogs must exhibit compliance with their master’s commands and look perfect while doing it.
To even be in the show the dog owners must be part of an elite segment of the dog world that features the purest of the pure breeds – all documented by the American Kennel Club, of course. The dogs have pretentious names like Pequest Wasabi, Pinnacle Kentucky Bourbon, Bugaboo's Courage Of Conviction and Crystal Boy De La Pomme.
To give you an idea how lowbrow I am, my last few have been rescue pups named Ruby, Sam, Alex and Pongo. When I was a kid, I had a mongrel just named "Dog".
I’ve no bone to pick (pun intended) with the show or the kennel club, but the way the elite of the kennel club parades their pampered pups in the show is the same way “The Left” parades around their pet groups. The racial and grievance groups used by “The Left” are just part of a grand show organized and judged by those same urban dwelling, college educated white women mentioned earlier. As the leadership of the Westminster Kennel Club is to the Westminster Dog Show, these leftist women are to the Democrat Party.
I guess that is what rubs me wrong about the various exhibitions of “Best In Show” – and that is what Black History Month, Pride Month, Kwanzaa, Juneteenth, Drag Queen Story Hour, and other “celebrations” are. Even the Pussyhat/BLM/ANTIFA protests/riots/looting/arsonfests were just “The Left”, driven by the societal perspectives of urban dwelling college-educated white women, flexing on the rest of the country.
Throw in the massive amounts of propagandizing by the media and this is little more than the Democrats parading their pets before America just as the dogs are paraded by their owners at the Westminster Dog Show – and I just find that incredibly patronizing, dehumanizing and demeaning.
Given that June is “Pride Month”, the analogy of a dog show run by elites sure seems to be an apt one.
One wonders if dogs even know they are pets.
Maybe they do, maybe they don’t – but one thing is for sure, the constituent groups of “The Left” certainly don’t seem to know.
At the risk of being demonized as a male chauvinist pig (what a quaint old term), your essay reminded me of the fact that women's periods, when women are regularly quartered together, tend to synchronize.
As we live in an invisible universe consisting of nothing but energy, it is a safe assumption that Mass Formation Psychosis has liberal leftist women in its unrelenting grip and Beta Males, regardless of whether they have opted to "come out" as women, find themselves in the same brainless and hopeless mob.
