Since the end of WWII, the Democrat Party has positioned itself as “the party of the people”.
If you are poor, a minority, an immigrant, they are for you. They want to guarantee you food, clothing, shelter, equity, and acceptance.
In theory, that’s them. In practice, their “Up With People” public persona is total bullshit.
Not really a surprise since the Democrat Party coalition includes every socialist/Marxist/communist group and organization in America. They tamped it down during the “Red Scare” period, but Joe McCarthy was right – there were communist infiltrators in our government and communist factions most likely had John Kennedy assassinated due to his strong and staunch anti-communist stands.
The Democrat Party’s resistance to collectivism died with JFK, and even as they tried to keep up appearances by fighting a land war against “communism” in Southeast Asia, here domestically, the times, they were a-changin’.
In the middle of a resurgence of left-wing violence, youth rebellion and a Civil Rights revolt against historically racist Democrat policies, President Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society was a mainline injection of collectivism right into America’s veins.
It must be noted that if not for Republican Senator Everett Dirksen, the Civil Rights Act would not have passed. Democrat Senator Robert Byrd filibustered the bill. As to the votes in the Democrat held Congress, in the Senate, 82% of Republicans voted for the bill vs. 69% of the Democrats, similarity in the House, 80% of the Republican representatives voted in favor vs. 63% of Democrats.
Democrats always try to make “the parties switched positions” argument when the racist positions and actions of the Democrat Party are brought up – and there is some truth to that assertion – but the “switch” was Republicans taking the conservative positions from the Democrats while leaving the racist ideology behind for the Democrats to keep – which they set in cement as they constructed the welfare plantation of Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society programs.
Collectivism means the erasure of individualism. People are merely resources to be used by the state for its own benefit. Any organization or party that adopts collectivist principles does not care about the individual and if you don’t care about individuals, you cannot care about groups of individuals.
In short, you can’t be a collectivist and give a tinker’s damn about people, and from derailed tanker trains releasing poison clouds of chemicals to the horrific destruction of lives in a small town in Hawaii, Democrat have proven they don’t care.
On a straight line from East Palestine, Ohio to Lahaina, Hawaii, it is 4,579.16 miles - but they might as well be the same town as far as the Biden administration is concerned.
One characteristic that communist governments have in common is a complete lack of concern for human life. I never was in the USSR before the wall fell, but a good friend of mine from Romania told me about his childhood under communism – spoiler alert – it was not good. I did see it firsthand in China when I began travelling there for business. Factory workers were looked upon as beasts of burden. These governments don't care about the people beyond what they can do for the government - they are viewed as disposable assets.
Hawaii is hard left - Democrats all down the line. Maybe they have just accepted their role as drones. Maybe the entire Democrat Party has. I expect no less punishment for a rural town in Ohio that voted for President Trump. To the Biden regime, they might as well be classified as untouchables, invisible people it is acceptable to ignore because they do not benefit the Democrat regime.
I expect this out of Biden. For all the "doting grandfather" propaganda, he's a heinous, selfish, callous, and uncaring man. Always has been. Biden has alternately been known for being the Senator from DuPont and the Senator from MBNA and is the reason it is more difficult to file Chapter 7 and making some credit card debt is not dischargeable in bankruptcy.
The biggest surprise to me is that Obama hasn't bothered to show up on site after claiming for decades that Hawaii as his home state - but I guess now that he is out of office and swimming in the Democrat River of Dark Money rather than the Hawaiian surf, the Hawaiians are no longer useful to him.
That Democrats care about people is a damned lie. The evidence is legion. They have no concept of charity because charity involves getting directly involved with people. Democrats believe in using taxpayer money for that because they can write a check and walk away, never to consider those people again. In their minds, they solved the problem – government took care of it.
And they reward their allies – watch the aftermath of Lahaina and see of it isn’t Blackrock or another huge Democrat favorable fund that swoops in and buys up Maui coastal property for pennies on the dollar.
They are scum for sure, but this is their ultimate weakness.
Republicans should be doing more than just screaming to high heaven about the people in rural Ohio, costal Hawaii, and the people of the inner cities of Chicago and New York, people abandoned and taken for granted by the Democrat elite. They should be leading the charge with policies and real help from private entities and reminding people that the Democrats simply don’t care about them.
My guess is that Der HawaiiStaat will use the Kelo precedent to confiscate the Lahaina properties in the name of eminent domain and then sell them to Blackrock or Oprah or whomever. Maybe FEMA can find the displaced Hawaiians trailer homes in the floodplains of the Mississippi?
