A Noble Heart Can Have No Ease If Freedom Fails
A message from Robert the Bruce, King of the Scots.
Inscribed on the marker for the resting place of the heart of King Robert the Bruce at Melrose Abbey in the Scottish Borders is this (translated):
“A noble heart can have no ease if freedom fails.”
Keep the faith folks, we are winning - and in the end, we will prevail.
We will prevail because we are the people who believe in individuality and individual natural rights – and that is the ONLY way people can survive and be free.
The contemporary Democrat Party is suicidal. The Biden Administration is the epitome of that suicidal wish. They are proving nothing the progressive movement has preached for nearly a century works in practice, and the difference now is that people are materially being hurt by their policies.
The Democrat response is not to recognize the people’s pain, it is to lie about it and continue as if it will get better simply by doubling down.
To those out there who think communism failed because it just wasn’t implemented correctly, these times are for you. The fact is that there is NO CORRECT way to implement authoritarian collectivism because it doesn’t work under ANY circumstances.
When any ideology resorts to redefining language in a transparent effort to avoid reality, that is a sure sign it is losing. It’s like trying to redefine gasoline as water and then trying to put out a fire with it. Calling it water doesn’t change what the liquid is, nor does it change the effect when it is poured on a fire.
Did you see where Starbucks is reaping the whirlwind of their own “woke” policies?
They are closing stores because those policies have turned stores into pits of filth and drug dens.
How about the mayors of “sanctuary cities” complaining about illegal immigrants?
Greg Abbott’s transportation of illegals from Texas to DC, New York, Baltimore and Boston are giving those cities a taste of unfiltered illegal immigration and guess what? They don’t like it one little bit.
Did you see where the LGBTQ community wants to get rid of the "T"?
The gay community has realized what the feminists did a long time ago, transgenderism is negates homosexuality.
Black farmers who were promised race-based payoffs by Democrats are now seeing that what they were promised is constitutionally impossible and probably not happening.
That this would happen was inevitable.
This is what I meant when I said that any ideology built upon contradictions can't stand. The progressive Democrat movement cannot possibly give all the disparate groups within their coalition what each of them want without those groups coming in conflict.
You can only keep the kids apart for so long before they figure that out for themselves.
The miracle is that they have been able to keep these groups compartmentalized for such a long time.
People unfavorably compare Trump and his approach to that of Reagan and his steely resolve and quiet strength, but what we should realize is there is no place for quiet strength in today’s world.
We certainly live in different times and things have changed, but I get a sense that our culture is changing as well. I agree with you that we have reached a tipping point, but when a tipping point is reached, we fall one way or the other. I see a change in people.
Andrew Breitbart famously said politics is downstream from culture. That is 100% true.
These aren't the Democrats of the 80's. There are two measures as objective proof of that change.
The first are the Blue Dog Democrats. These were a coalition of conservative leaning Democrats arising in the early 1990’s, during the Clinton years.
The conservative leaning Blue Dog Democrat coalition peaked in 2008 with 59 members, today that number sits at 19 and their stands have shifted farther left. They are no longer "conservative" in any meaningful sense. Today’s Democrats would be cast out of their own party as communists in a time when most Democrats were still conservative.
The second measure is the Democrat Progressive Caucus.
The Progressive Caucus began around the same time as the Blue Dog coalition (1991) with 19 members, it has now grown to 101 members.
Just as the Democrats have changed, our approaches must change to meet the threat.
I do see that changing. For perhaps nearly a century, the GOP was conditioned to throw people out who offended the Democrats to show “bipartisanship”. That led the Democrats to define bipartisanship as “Republicans going along with what we want” and that is still what the establishment Republicans, like Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, and Lisa Murkowski want to do with Trump – get rid of him to appease the Democrats – but people aren’t getting rid of Trump.
It isn't so much they hate Trump, they just don't want to be able to go along with Democrats without anyone calling them out, like Trump does.
As Liz Cheney’s catastrophic primary loss last night proves, we are getting rid of those who want to go back to the old Bob Michel way of doing things, being the faithful go along to get along minority.
I firmly believe I am right and our culture of being noble losers is changing.
You’ve done it, again: “put pen to thoughts” on many of the issues that I, and no doubt Many others, have been troubled about in recent times. Bravo!!
And from your lips to God’s ear.
Long past time to replace that “culture of noble losers” ! We See How that’s been working out.
"Black farmers who were promised race-based payoffs by Democrats are now seeing that what they were promised is constitutionally impossible and probably"
Probably what, Michael? I'm thinking illegal, but don't know for certain.
Regardless of that, thanks for some more Michael Smith optimism!
