A Conversation Among Patriots

This morning I had the great honor and pleasure of addressing La Société Deux Magots, a local group of heterodox thinkers and doers who want to see America prosper.

I was fortunate enough to speak to a group of great people this morning, a gathering of wise and wizened men and women who love this country and want to see her prosper. I decided I would post sort of a synopsis of my prep notes for the talk.

Good morning, all. Thank you for inviting me, it is a pleasure and honor to be with you this morning.

I just wanted to welcome you to Day 37 of Kamala Harris not holding an open press conference. Five days left to meet her promise of holding one before the end of August. I’m not holding my breath. Harris’ most ardent supporters are encouraging her to keep her mouth shut until after the election.

They remember her run in the 2020 primaries when the more people were exposed to her, the lower her chances became. I think she polled at around 3% in her home state of California.

It sure feels that way to me.

My topic was left open, so I thought I would talk a bit about history.

The curious thing about history is that it is typically only recognized in retrospective. We don’t know if we are living through or making it - until after it is made. Inflection and pivots in history are not often noticed until some amount of time elapses after they happen.

2024 has been different in that the history factory has been working overtime and we have all been right there on the manufacturing line witnessing it being assembled in real time.

It’s crazy.

With 2024 being an election year, we rolled into it with primaries in both major parties, the Democrats’ process pretty much uncontested, the Republicans with several people seeking the nomination. Neither of the leading candidates participated in debates and both Joe Biden and Donald Trump survived the initial processes to become the presumptive nominees of their party, but that is when it began to get weird, especially on the Democrat side…

Joe Biden’s mental state had long been a concern, but the biggest concern within the Democrat Party seemed to be whether Kamala Harris was the right partner for him going forward. By the time March rolled around and Biden was gearing up for the 2024 State of the Union, questions were boiling up about her performance and whether she should be replaced on the ticket. Kathleen Parker of the Washington Post wrote that “for the good of the country”, Harris should step aside and allow Biden to pick a better person to take her position.

But Biden’s weirdly delivered March SOTU speech seemed to quell that talk for a while, with Biden largely making it through the speech and afterwards assuring everybody everything was fine, he was great, picking Kamala was the best decision he ever made, and there was nothing to see here, just move along.

We were also treated to an outbreak of anti-Israel/pro-Hamas/anti-American/anti-Western protests on college campuses, openly supported by Democrat members of Congress.

A large amount of the media space was consumed by reporting on the lawfare jihad against Donald Trump, the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial, unprecedented in the way New York State changed law to target one person, the Letitia James “fraud” allegations (which featured no victim or loss) and the completely manufactured crimes of “falsifying business” records in which yet another George Soros funded DA took something that historically was a misdemeanor and was outside the statute of limitations, made them into felonies, and then proceeded to a trial under a biased judge and jury that to this day doesn’t know what crime they convicted Trump of doing. Fani Willis in Atlanta ran headlong into ethical questions as she tried to convict about half the population of Buckhead of RICO violations and that prosecution was derailed. Jack Smith’s appointment as special counsel was ruled unconstitutional, nevertheless he and hanging judge Tanya Chutkan continue their “Get Trump” process, just not on the expedited timeline they sought.

As these made for TV courtroom dramas flashed across our screens, it was made clear to anyone with two functioning brain cells to rub together, this was all designed to dirty up a political candidate and frustrate, if not end, his run for the Oval Office.

While the Democrats cheered convictions in the Carroll case and the Letita James “fraud case”, the Holy Grail of 34 felony convictions were handed down in perhaps the dumbest and weakest case of all, Alvin Bragg’s prosecution made from nothing.

In May, the final nail was driven in the Russian disinformation op called Hunter Biden’s laptop when special counsel David Weiss announced plans to introduce Hunter’s infamous laptop as evidence against him at his upcoming trial on felony gun charges.

Then came the trainwreck of the June 27^th presidential debate where America watched as the Commander in Chief of the United States completely fell apart.

While people had long suspected President Biden was in rapid mental decline, it was still stunning to see it played out in a national, prime time broadcast. There was no way to spin what people saw with their own eyes and the Democrats realized their problem was a candidate who already had the nomination in hand was never going to make it through an election, much less be able to serve for four more years.

The media couldn’t even deny it any longer, using the excuse they thought it was a “right-wing conspiracy theory” for not reporting what they were seeing.

And as crazy as 2024 had been up to that point, the real crazy was just about to begin.

Democrats schemed to replace Joe Biden with the very Vice President they had openly worked to remove in March – but they were in a bind. There was no way they could bypass the DIE Vice President without alienating a huge section of their base, the AWFLs. These Affluent, White, female, liberal, upper middle-class and college educated suburban wine moms are a powerful force for Democrats. Accepting their fate, the Democrat elite entered a process to shiv Biden and transfer both delegates and campaign cash over to her, all while Biden claiming nothing was wrong, he was the nominee, Harris was going to be his VP and c’mon man, he was hale, hearty and running.

In Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, an assassin’s bullet barely missed its mark, nicking Trump’s ear. Several other rounds were fired, killing Corey Comperatore, a rally goer in the stands behind Trump and injuring several more.

But since this could have been a defining moment that assured the defeat of a Democrat presidential candidate, the Democrats and their media allies began to question if it really was an assassination attempt if the bullet only nicked Trump. It could have been staged, they said, it was just random violence brought about by Trump’s own rhetoric, but at the end, they just decided to stop talking about it because it helped the man they all hate. Their greatest regret is that the assassin missed the shot.

A few days after the assassination attempt, the RNC kicked off and was one of the best conventions I have witnessed in my lifetime. There appeared to be total unity.

Just after the RNC closed folded their convention tents, Harris cemented her hold on the Democrat delegates without a single individual voting for her. The party that was running on saving democracy perpetrated the most undemocratic process to elevate a person they had seriously been contemplating dumping from the ticket. Harris went from zero to hero in record neck snapping time. Sometimes positions are changing so fast, it’s like watching an Olympic ping pong match.

Earlier this month we witnessed the highly produced and stage-managed DNC convention of “joy”. I guess the DNC is clueless that “Strength through Joy” was an old Nazi slogan. Kamala picked an apparent Chinese fellow traveler for VP, a governor with a loose relationship with the truth whose greatest advantage appears to be that he is not Jewish.

The campaign has become Harris of last week running against the Harris of 2019 through July of 2024. Using footage of Trump’s border wall. Harris’ thinner resume than Obama. Press not that different, they just had to pack 18 months of lap dogging into 18 weeks.

The message I get from the Democrats is that they really only need a cut-out in office because there is a committee behind the scenes running everything anyway.

What does all this mean?

Are we in a post-truth world or are we about to return to reality?

Is this a turning point?

Could be.

Look, coming together, we have:

• Trump himself, a populist who believes conservative ideas and policies are best for America.

• J.D. Vance, a conservative who is married to a brilliant woman who is a child of immigrants. Vance and Usha have two multi-racial children.

• Elon Musk, a political agnostic, supporting Trump.

• RFKJ, and old line liberal, closing out his campaign to support Trump.

• Tulsi Gabbard, a patriot who understands the danger her former party has become, endorsing Trump.

And the GOP not cracking up about it. If anything, the GOP has welcomed it.

I didn’t have any of this on my bingo card.

But Harris could still win.

If she does, America is over.

Not so much due to her policies, but because it will demonstrate the American public no longer has the capacity to govern itself.

If Trump wins, we have a chance.
